Ok, then you can subtract a year off of all the rebuilding cycles I mentioned too. If the Rockets whiff this year, again, and have no pick in 2024, that is not "what a full rebuild usually requires" - it's an outlier, despite your insistence otherwise.
Whether they whiff on whatever pick they get or not is anyone's guess. If they have no pick in 2024 that's all on Tilman, just like how Boston can thank Billy King for their team because he was such an idiot too.
How on earth could you possibly know if we drafted superstars level players when Jalen Green is 20, Sengun is 20, and Jabari is 19? If you can see the future, you should be doing more impactful things than complaining about the Rox online.
For sure. That has nothing to do with our age in coaching. It’s obviously because we’re bad at drafting
name 10 players better than Jalen Green in the 21 class name 10 players better than JS in this past draft.
I don't see the point in repeating myself, but as I and many others have said, if you think just adding a new coach has a high likelihood of fixing things by itself - there is just not a lot of evidence to believe that this is going to be true, and with no hope coming in 2 out of the next 4 drafts it's time to investigate other solutions.
Bro, be honest with yourself. If Embiid came here and was injured the first two seasons you would have called him a bust and wanted to trade him. No, being an all-star caliber player when you first step on the floor is not at all usual and is an extremely rare outlier.
I think it was kevin o connor who did the redraft dragging them both this week, but he's far from alone. Smith has been hovering around 10 in the rookie ladders all season. Lots of guys have passed him up (Jalen Williams in particular is now more highly regarded). Either way, it's hard to say teh Rockets got the best available player in 21 (they didn't) and in 22 (they didnt'), IMO that counts as a draft miss so far.
well then that's just you. I just know there aren't 10 players better than either in either draft class and they're two high prospects worth seeing well past 19 and green who is now 20.
Sure, and then he stepped on the court, and it all changed. I feel very safe in saying no current Rocket will match Joel Embiid's career arc - do you feel differently? If you had to bet money on any current Rocket matching him in MVP voting or all-NBA, would you? I don't think you would, I certainly wouldn't. I do think it's an absolutely different situation of Embiid not playing for 2 years, vs. Jalen Green giving us an idea of the kind of player he is over a large sample of 2 years. One is "unknown" - the other is "unlikely"
I don’t mention coaching in the post you’re replying to. I mention that in the next post. in the post you’re replying to, I ask why you don’t use your powers of seeing the future for more productive things.
"WHO SAYS THIS!" a bunch of people, the Ringer, the NBA.com guy, others "Well then that's just you" "It's all tilman's fault" "john collins doesn't move the needle he just makes us better "a full rebuild cycle takes 2 decades" You're killing it today man.
Gosh, good idea, @Clutch please lock all threads discussing possible avenues for the Rockets in the future since we're clearly all out of our depth.
says the guy who knows exactly what a 19 year old kid will be in this league "I want John Collins bc hell make my viewing experience better!!!!" killing it
I wouldn't be mad at a Collins deal, but I imagine we overpay, which if we do I'd be disappointed. In this Caruso deal I'm proposing we give up Eric Gordon, who I imagine will likely just get bought out if we don't trade him, and the MIL FRP. So, the only asset of any value is the MIL pick, which I'd gladly give up to get a winning player who could help be a true vet presence for the young guys. His contract is about 9.5/year and only partially guaranteed (3M 24-25). I do believe he would help the growth of Green while complementing him. In this scenario KPJ can either shift to SF or come off the bench, which would help everyone on the team. Unlike you, I believe in our young guys. That underlying fact will lead us to disagree on almost any roster construction going into this offseason.
Well no, they can't match his arc because his arc included looking more like Greg Oden then finally getting to play. But my point stands and you can run from it all the same. You would have wanted to trade him. I don't have to bet money on anything though, the situation is would you trade them or not, right now they are already Rockets, the only bet being made is if they are worth keeping or trading away. I would not... Meanwhile, you've made it clear to me already you would trade Jalen Green for Jalen Williams which IMO shows terrible talent evaluation because one guy is being asked to be the best player on a team while the other is being asked to be a role player but you're fooled by wanting immediate success even if it means winning 1 more game than usual .
