For those who haven't been following Tyre Nichols is a 29 year old Black men who died of wounds after being arrested by five Memphis LEO during a traffic stop on Jan, 7, 2023. According to medical authorities he was severely beaten. The five LEO are also black and have been charged with 2nd Degree Murder. Memphis PD will release the body cam footage tomorrow. There seems to be a double standard when black officers are involved in violence. Is anyone going to back the blue in this case? Is anyone going to claim this Nicholes died of a drug overdose. That he should have not resisted.
I dunno, a resident statist chimed in with a tweet about antifa mobilizing. While not directly "backing the blue," that is stirring the pot to suggest that only a fringe left-wing group can be publicly upset about police violence.

I do enjoy the irony of those claiming that "statists" are the ones backing Antifa which from what I've seen has some similarities to Anarchic movements while those who say they are suspicious of big government are backing law enforcement. Of course from what we saw on Jan. 6 and after the Mar-A-Lago raid they won't back law enforcement when the laws are being enforced on those they ideologically agree with.
my point is that since these cops are black, there is no way in hell they won’t be held fully accountable, which should be the case for all cops…there will be no Rodney King acquittal…no Philando Castille not guilty verdict there will be no trying to excuse the death away or blame the victim like with George Floyd
I would hope so but I still think many of those who say they are for "Backing the Blue" will still spin it in some way to blame the victim. Especially if we do see some protests turn into riots. We already see on this thread a poster warning about Antifa. I think even if the LEO are black they will want to go after "Leftists" protests and "coddling criminals" more than they will be concerneda about the LEO themselves.
His mom is very level headed. She is requesting to not burn down the cities. Amazing to have that foresight in her time of grief.
And it takes away from the actual story, and allows the right wing to make the story about lawless "thugs" committing arson, and destroying neighborhoods. FoxNews and co. were VERY successful in turning the murder of an unarmed black man and millions of peaceful protests globally into an anti-Democratic war cry because of just a handful of incidents where idiots threw trash cans threw a window or lit a trash can on fire. Those around Mrs. Nichols, and those who will represent their interests in the media know this, and don't want the memory of Tyre Nichols to be a rallying cry for Trumper nuts like George Floyd has become just because of a couple of idiots who burned a trash can for FoxNews to use for their motives.
Now there's some uncut intersectionality we can all question! Too bad it's being framed in contrast the tired "few bad apples" argument that doesn't critique modern policing at all.
