Did Frank Reich got an interview with somebody else? or only with Carolina? Nobody was interested in him. Frank Reich got fired mid season, so why Carolina wanted to interview someone who just got fired for the same position? The GM of Carolina has to go, they had a great interim coach in Wilks and let him go.
I'm not super worried about Carolina, nor do I know a ton about their recent history - other than they've torn everything down. I thought Wilks did a great job. That being said, these two things can be mutually exclusive, and are much different, taking recent history into account.
Gannon is the favorite to be the next Texans coach. https://www.oddschecker.com/us/insi...onathan-gannon-strong-favorite-to-get-the-job
Frank Reich was interviewed by the Cardinals. He also had a decent amount of success in his short tenure with the Colts and won a superbowl as an OC.
Article title: Houston Texans Next Head Coach Odds: Jonathan Gannon Strong Favorite To Get the Job Article text: Gannon is the current favorite at +175, or an implied 36.4% chance to land the job. Ryans is behind him at +200, or an implied 33.3% chance. Things have tightened in recent days, on January 12th, Gannon was +150 and Ryans +300, so while Gannon remains the favorite, momentum is clearly with the 49ers' Defensive Coordinator.
Frank Reich was literally the Demeco Ryans "must hire" coordinator not that long ago... and he had a SB win with a backup QB going for him as well. Honestly, this is what happens with most coordinators who are HC's for their first job. They don't succeed. But that also doesn't automatically take them away from having additional opportunities.
looks like the texans are going to get gannon and the broncos will get demeco if you want to believe this guy
a 40-33 record, (very similar record like O'Brien did with the Texans) with a nice roster on defense, and Jonathan Taylor couldnt reach the playoffs 3 years on 4 years, couldnt win the weak AFC South division and I think if the Texans hired someone who just got fired, people will be mad, and if Gannon wins the superbowl as DC, its the same.
This might be a gross overreaction but if DeMeco is the real deal and Gannon flops, I’m not sure Cal and the Texans can recover from a media/fans standpoint, at least not for a while.
I don’t think DeMeco will have anything to do with it. At least for me it won’t. Caserio is sticking out his neck if they hire Gannon. It would mean this whole process was a sham from the very beginning. So Gannon and the soon to be QB pick better hit the ground running or Nicky boy is gonna be out of a job.
It will be hard to recover from being spurned by a popular franchise player that is still fresh in the minds of your current fans if the guy you get instead flops. Faith in the org is super low already, Demeco having no interest in being a part of it would sting a lot of people. Personally I'm indifferent. I wouldn't hire Demeco or Gannon. I think they will get burned by either one.
Or it could mean that DeMeco preferred Denver. People seem to assume that the Texans would automatically be able to get their first choice, which seems silly after the last 2 years.
It's funny how now Payton has issues with Denver ownership after reports came out that nobody wants him...you can't fire me, I quit...I can't wait to not give a crap about what Cowherd does or doesn't say...
Ya that’s why I put Cal specifically. Caserio would undoubtedly be gone. But we’d be stuck with another failed decision under Cal’s watch.
