2/10 from the field 0/5 from 3 pt I'm more worried about his play than his attitude. Time to play Eason and see if Jabari can excel on the vipers.
What am I supposed to be looking at here? They hate seeing Jabari sitting next to the coach? I don't get it.
He definitely hitting all kinds of rookie walls aggressively but damn he does whine a alot. It's a bad look and he definitely annoys his teammates. That said, perhaps that behavior(more positive) is what this team needs but it should come from Silas not a struggling rookie.
An excellent post. I think he's mentally weak. Our team is in need of a sports psychologist with experience.
I agree, but would add "so far." He is very young and immature. Remember Green's performance early last year. Actually, he is still pretty "green." Smith has the physical tools, but needs a lot of work. Probably not getting the coaching he needs. None of them are.
Everybody was wanting a dog in the offseason and we got Bari and Tari who are both dogs. Did anyone watch Jabari’s defense last night? It was excellent. His shot is not falling and that has made him in-effective in the offense that most of the season has been dominated by ball hogs. He will put on muscle and the game will slow down for him in time. He lacks confidence in his shot, so if he needs to go down to RGV to work on it fine. People discounting this 19 year old as a bust are idiotic. He hates losing and may be immature in how he is reacting to it, but I’ll take that 10 times over, “we never lose, we win or we learn” bs.
I agree that his shooting hasn't been what we'd hoped, but saying he's been majorly disappointing as a #3 pick is hyperbole. Check out the last 20 or so #3 picks. Most seem to be solid players, but if you check their rookie stats, very few of them came into the league doing much better than Smith. For every Doncic and Embiid, there's Otto Porter, Kanter, Favors, etc. Many of the guys picked third in recent years had rookie seasons pretty similar to Smith. Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Beal, RJ Barrett, and others had similar stats as far as production goes. Some guys had great rookie seasons then played their way out of the league (Okafor, Mayo). Smith has only been a disappointment because we hoped he'd be a stud right out of the gate. Bottom line: Jabari doesn't suck, and is mostly in line with what you'd expect from an average #3 pick. I'm pretty comfortable that he's going to be a key to this team going forward. That 3-point shot definitely needs work, though.
Interestingly, I watched him through college, and his three point shot was money, smooth as silk. Shooting just doesn't go away. Something with mechanics is going on. He is clearly pressing.
I agree. But sending him to RGV might not be the way to resolve it. Maybe it'll come when the rest of the team is playing better so he doesn't feel so much stress about his offense.
Going from number 1-2 option to 4th/5th option is whats really killing him... he doesnt touch the ball much and when he does...hes pressed to make a play to try and touch it more..moving Gordon would of helped earlier in season... but now hes behind KPJ GREEN SENGUN EG in getting a shot up
Out of those players he needs the most help from teammates to get good looks. So naturally it's going to be harder for him to get shots up. All those guys can create their own shot consistently. The way the offense has been run the past couple of weeks will hopefully get him more good clean looks to up that scoring efficiency.
