Much like Luhnow’s 2009 draft alone gave him the kind of draft pedigree that inarguably made him a legit GM candidate, Brown’s 2019 draft gave him the resume of a potential excellent GM. Just one draft like that for Houston every 4-5 years is all he needs to keep the train moving.
Finally Not much to do at the MLB level right now, so he can focus all his efforts into taking inventory on the farm.
If Ausmus really wants to be a GM, he needs to be willing to accept the type of job that would qualify him as a candidate. I am sure there are orgs out there that would take him in as an AGM and work him into a decision making role over scouting, drafting, or development that would give him the kind of quantifiable results that made Brown a qualified candidate.
Not my first choice but not a bad one either. He will be a step up from Click. I hope he can live with Crane up his ass till he gains the trust of our owner. Crane is likely to still be a little gun shy from having to deal with Click.
Now the Texans need to hire Demeco and we've got 2 out of 3 pretty good coaches and a bright future for both franchises. The Rockets on the other hand.....
It’s a scary thought. Truly. If you can’t recognize Ausmus as a GM, of a title contending club no less, is a terrible decision it doesn’t speak well to your process.
