Exactly. This is why the Model Minority stereotype is misleading. It's simplified Asians into a monolith and then when we do so see Asians doing something like this it starts turning into "what is wrong with Asians'. The same thing happened with the V-Tech shooting.

Yes, it bleeds into everything. From how people on the street treat people, to close relationships.... jobs, everything.

I read there were multiple injuries and the shooter is at large and probably on foot.

Hopefully they catch them and there are no other injuries.

Won’t stop until we get rid of the guns. Stop selling no ones and figure out a way to gradually pick up old ones without causing too big a fuss (buy backs, grandfather in people who own them currently).

It’ll take a 100 years but better to start today then tomorrow.

Short of that ^, it won’t stop.

Half measures like raising age limits, tougher red flag laws, fixing the gun show loophole, restricting magazine capacities etc etc will only effect the number of deaths at the margins.

Plenty of these folks wouldn’t trigger any systems and just buy their guns and start mowing people down.

I understand that people deeply care for their children and can relate to the struggles that kids face, as evidenced by the outpouring of support in the aftermath of a recent tragedy involving a 14-year-old who committed suicide due to bullying. However, when it comes to gun violence and school shootings, a significant portion of the population remains indifferent. Some even flaunt their guns and resist any attempts at regulation. The attachment to firearms appears to trump the collective pain and fear felt by families already affected by gun violence in schools or fear they might be next. This detachment stems from a false sense of security and the belief that "it won't happen to me."

It actually stems from a true sense of security, and an understanding that it is almost certain "it won't happen to me." These anecdotes are meaningless. gun violence is not a major problem in schools. Going to school is quite safe. There is about a 10 million to 1 chance of a kid dying in a school shooting each year (about the same as getting killed by lightning or an earthquake). A student being killed is tragic, but it is not a common occurrence and you shouldn't spend undue time worrying about it.

In other words, since it hasn't happened to me, I don't give a s*** about other people's kids. Shootings in schools are fine as long as I get to keep my gun. It's worth the lives of those children for my rights.

I want to be amazed at a depraved response like this but I'm just not anymore.

I am curious to see if his probation allowed fire arm possession. I guess that charge could be a misdemeanor in Michigan.

No, just that it isn't something you need to be concerned about, because the chances of it happening to your kid are extremely remote. Why don't you quake in fear everytime there is a thunderstorm? You are rightly not concerned about being struck by lightning, because it is an extremely rare occurrence. You should be equally as concerned about your kid dying in a school shooting. Also, I don't own a gun.

    You made my point.

Approximately 20 people are struck by lightning each year, with the majority being adults. On the other hand, about 321 people are shot by guns daily, including 22 children.

Why are you transitioning from school shootings to all shootings, and from people killed to people shot? Isn't that a tacit agreement that, yes, school shootings are too rare to be concerned about. Most gun murders are criminals killing other criminals. If you don't want to be shot and killed, the best thing to do is not be a street criminal. If you do that, chances are you will be just fine. Thank you for making my point for me.

I'm not transitioning. You just assumed, or like to take a narrow view, to make a silly point of comparing lightning to gun violence. I presented statistics, while you said 'just don't be a criminal,' which is not contributing anything useful other than showing you bias view, disregards for many kids and adults shots daily due to no fault of their own, and again, a false sense of security.
