That is a complete joke, he failed to mention to the dispatcher he was in hot pursuit of a dam old dude on a wheelchair scooter..............WTF, you didn't think you could take him or use a taser? SMH, cops like this need to be put in with the best of the best prisoners so he gets what's coming to him.....this dude is a POS
I understand the point you're making but let's make sure we have protection. This forum talks about police brutality and corruption. You started a thread on Chicago police. I know the thread already been hijacked to talk bad cops but we still need police and morale is an issue.
I don't think anyone is suggesting we shouldn't have protection. It isn't just Chicago. This was hundreds of people in just one city. The problem is that until we have people willing to take on these kinds of abuses, it won't change. One thing that will help law enforcement morale is having communities trust them more. The way to do that is for cops to weed out these corrupt jackasses
No it's not everywhere. Not like the problems in Chicago. I saw yiu write that in that thread but the problems in Chicago are unique in their scale
Sure they are not identical, but if you believe that Chicago is an isolated vacuum in terms of abuse and breeding distrust, you might want to investigate some more.
It's isolated in scale. You really think other police departments have corrupt cops setting people up in these numbers? What would be the motivation?
The motivation in some of the cases was to make money. They sold drugs, charged protection and solicited bribes. I'm not sure of the scale in other departments. But we know that it's happened in other departments around the country. Weed out the corruption and it will go a long way to helping improve relations of the police, morale of the civilians and in return the morale of the police force.
If this were going on in other cities we would know. You talk like people are scared to call out law enforcement. That's not true. We have just had in the last couple of years mass protests of individual situations. There is no evidence of this type of corruption elsewhere
It is going on in other places and plenty of folks do know. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Dowd_(police_officer) https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rampart_scandal https://www.bet.com/photo-gallery/czj3ir/7-of-the-most-corrupt-police-cities-in-history/hsn67t For many years people didn't know. It takes hard work from unsung heroes and civil rights attorneys among others for us to ever find out. In some of the stories, I linked, people spent half of their lives in prison when they should have been acquitted. We didn't know until recently. It is unwise to assume we would just know if it was happening. Part of the frustration is that it has been happening for so long and people keep uncovering it, but it doesn't change. That kind of frustration leads to more anger and extreme reactions.
Your post kinda of proves my point that you have to go back so many years to find this type of corruption. Also a single cop selling drugs is not about a corrupt system, it's about a corrupt cop. Lastly I was referring more to the specific Chicago issue of innocent people being locked up
You don't have to go back years. I was pointing out how long it has been happening and is still happening. Changes aren't being made to improve it. Chicago was shown. You said that was only place. I provided a history of it happening other places. They all involved people wrongfully harassed and imprisoned by the police. One way to help with police morale is to make the changes that will lead to better relationships in the communities they serve.
I think morale can be helped by not letting the very few minority of bad cops represent law enforcement which you are doing. Your other examples are over twenty years old. You will be hard pressed to find a situation like Chicago elsewhere with innocent people going to jail. There are all kinds of issues in the legal system that can result in an innocent person going to jail and it's usually something trial related.
Not what I'm doing. I'm pointing out long standing problems that aren't fixed. I agree with you that are all kinds of issues with the justice system.
I don't doubt there are these types in law enforcement. Whole agencies aren't corrupted. Secondly a lot of the Chicago police who were corrupt are black. What type of culture did they bring? You are talking about culture I'm talking about corruption
You posted about innocent people being locked up. . Im not ignoring anything. You posted about innocent people getting locked up.That was unique to Chicago. That doesn't represent the entirety of law enforcement. Then you're posting everything ever saying it's not fixed but it happened 20 years ago. Law enforcement isn't the same everywhere to begin with. They are individual institutions.
Source? https://www.google.com/search?q=wro...vc3&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8#cobssid=s There is an estimated 1% of people in prison wrongly convicted.. our legal system can't know for certain if someone is guilty and most wrongful convictions happen because of juries. This isn't the fifties.
