1) Trade Tate to CLE for Osman + right to swap FRPs in 2024 + MIL 2024 SRP 2) Cut Marjanovic & Nix (2 spaces open) 3) 3-way trade: DET – MIA – HOU a. DET: D. Robinson (MIA) + Dedmon (MIA) + pick swap from HOU via CLE (2024) + MIA 2023 FRP + MIL 2024 SRP b. MIA: Gordon (HOU) + Noel (DET) c. HOU: Hayes (DET) + Yurtseven (MIA) + Knox (DET) 4) Waive Knox to open space for a waiver claim Tate gets to go home and provide quality wing depth for a playoff team. All the Turkish players belong to us. Future cap is not impinged heavily (can cut Osman in off-season) KPJ - Hayes - Nix Thrilla - Mathews - JGup KMJ - Tari - Osman Bari - Garuba - Knox Sengun - Bruno - Yurtseven
Toronto almost has to rebuild. Offer them the 2023 pick (top 2 protected) and some of our young spares, Gordon and KPJ for both Siakam and OG.
So they are going to take the chance that they give up those players and maybe not get the pick at all? hmmm. not sure the dinos want to gamble that much.
Sorry to further explain, if it didnt convey it would need to turn into something else. Likely all of the Nets assets.

EG for Fournier + ANY 1 of NYK 4 2023 FRP At this point I’d even take back that Detroit pick that will never convey.
Still no PG. Pushes Jabari and Tari/KJM further down the rotation or traded. So i guess the starting lineup would be: Pg? Jalen OG Siakim Sengun. Doubt Toronto would do it unless you add Jabari to the trade, and no way I’m doing that as I believe in time he will be a multi-year all-star and DPOY candidate. If you can do it without adding Jabari and you can obtain an above average PG we would be contenders with a new coach. So for me it is a yes depending on those factors.
Fournier has a 18m/3 year contract. Too big a blow to our cap space that we have been towards since the re-build began.
The final year is a team option and the Rockets will need the salary this off-season/next season if they want to make a significant trade.
This. Although I’d prefer to get a future pick from NYK. We need shooting, we need a decent sized contract to potentially package for a deal, and he really only has one year remaining after this season.
Precisely. It may or may not be everyone's preference (the decision to work towards max cap space), but it is clearly a direction pursued. They won't be compromising that for Fournier and a pick that probably won't convey!!
If a team has 70M in cap space (take a random example, say, Houston), they can take on salary without sending any back in return (ie absorb players into cap space for a token asset - like a protected 2RP or rights to some schmuck who will never come over). So technically we don't need salary to make a trade.
Henderson if the pick is #2. If the pick is #1 take VW and roll with Green OG Smith Siakam Sengun with Victor off the bench for half a season. Love the prospect but he will need to acclimate. Maybe Feb 2024 OG or Sengun or Smith go to the bench.
Not realistic. Victor is gonna be a day one starter, period. Also, that lineup has horrendous ball handling. No way that happens
But you still need players to trade to make a trade…. This belief that we are going to blow all of our cap space this coming off-season is just fanciful.
There's nobody to give a max to anyway. FA class is slim. Taking bad contracts for picks helped get Brooklyn out of their Celtics trade conundrum.

No - you can trade Maarty Leunen (if he hasn't retired, we have his rights) for a max player as long as you have the cap space to absorb that max player. Yes, the other team needs incentive to make a deal. Sometimes teams want to dump a contract in the offseason and will pay an asset to do so, other times they want a return. I hardly think Fournier is a desirable asset with his bad contract, more likely a team would take a return of young rookie scale contract players (who may yet improve). Regardless of whether we will actually spend the money, it is still the strategy the front office is pursuing, and they aren't going to compromise that strategy for Fournier and a pick that won't convey. Think about it, what is the purpose in giving up a 20M contract (which basically expires this year if we want it to) for an 18M one (which has an extra season) in order to not get a pick... We may as well just sign Boban for 18M for 1 season if it is all about having a contract to trade. It makes no sense (to me). I'd rather take 4 seconds from Milwaukee, bad as they may be, at least they can be sweeteners on top of a FRP to make a deal in the future
