I told y'all Spring Green will be a thing. He turned it around this time last year and March/April were his months.
Other than obviously trying/giving effort on defense, looks like the big difference this game was his shot form. He's back doing a single motion shot rather than 2 and he just shoots a lot better this way. Whenever he's struggling with his shot, it looks like hes in between doing single and double motion forms.
So let me get this straight the 'reason' why Jalen goes off is linked to what Sengun does and what KPJ doesnt? It cant just be because the kid is insanely talented and is just trying to find himself? Should we talk about his history tying 30 point game streak to end last season as a case in point or nah? All the shooting coaches coming out and the Junior GMs who think its because some other assortment of players that just NEED to put their own bow and spin on the kid. Everybody wants to be right about something.
Green, like most players, not named Lebron or Giannis are a product of talent plus environment. It’s ok to say that Green plays better with Sengun than with KPJ. It is just an observation. The team as whole moves the ball better when Sengun is in the lineup. Ever since KPJ went down the Rockets are either leading or very competitive when he is on the floor. It is not a coincidence. KPJ is obviously playing out of position. I’m not an SOF or a GOF, but they are obviously starting to find a synergy. Denying that is a disservice to the team. KPJ is a good player and will be a great SG for some team. Unfortunately, for him we already have our SG of the future. This year it is fine to keep running him out there at PG to see if he can find the magic, but next year he needs to be sixth man or gone. Starting lineup next year: 1st round pick or vet Jalen Green Tari Jabari Sengun Or if we get Wemby Vet pg Green Jabari Wemby Sengun Bench hopefully: Tyty KPJ KJM Tari Vet bruiser.
He has now the 17th most 40 point games ever for an under 23 year old and he is currently 20. Clutchfans... (a few special individuals at least) "trade him!"
Seems like not many guys here can see the positives within each of these kids games. These rebuilds are a continually morphing process. When the losing gets drug out some guys just need to be able to blame that on someone instead of having a wide angle lens on this thing and coming to terms that its a product that was intended to be this bad for a specific reason. I was one of the loudest KPJ guys preseason. I had high hopes and have found it hard to defend him at times, but the way he's been shamed and scapegoated has been wild. Other guys here have tried to point out that the narrative of "KPJ iso's are killing us" was false. As a team the ROX do not ISO as much as the tunnel vision fans think. Same for Silas he's getting laughed at and written off when his offense generates a ridiculous amount of open looks and good quality shots for everyone. Players are just not making those shots. On a more veteran team the results would be much better, but its just easier to blame this thing on a couple of people and pretend that without them we would be enjoying winning basketball or "synergy". Anytime that same observation is captured within the black sheep of the team it becomes crickets or disclaimers. CHEMISTRY is what is important here not independent ONLY FAN agendas. The insecurity when "their" guy isnt the spotlight and has to share the stage is cringe and some would rather be drawn and quartered than to have to give compliments to whom they perceive as the problem. Attempts at existing mutually within this fan ecosphere are impossible when having to navigate so many egos. The "reason" why this team sucks has fallen out of the sky and landed right on our face and still some guys would rather lick their lips and wipe it away in order to continue and look for reasons why we suck! LOL You may be right that KPJ is jettisoned, but even in that thought so many here love to think that they are smarter than Rafael Stone and could do a better job as NBA GM and that he is also part of the problem and if their own roster vision is not realized 100% then its not worthwhile so they will just trash everything that doesnt align with their preference! Way too many moving parts to offer any clear path forward. What if we do land Wemby and Stone trades Sengun!! could you see how that would further splinter this emotionally fragile fanbase? If the goal is to win a ring then I dont care who they move in order to achieve that. Once we can find a couple of worthwhile vets to set the stage all of these young players will look better and hopefully realize their potential. Some just conveniently ignore that its next to impossible in any sort of professional setting or workplace to assemble a team of inexperienced employees like this and then foolishly become hyper critical of results without fully understanding that dynamic. This squad is among some of the youngest teams ever assembled, but we need to ignore that for fan fiction. The saying "patience is a virtue" has never been as loud. https://sites.dartmouth.edu/sportsa...xt=Taking a look at a,the average age is 27.7.
Good thing or however you see it, Stones is very slow with trades anyhoot. Ones he should not make and the ones he should make.
I don't think Rockets should trade Green because they won't really get what they consider to be good value and his future path is still to open. That said, the 40 point games thing should be taken with the tiniest grain of salt - I'm the debbie downer who's going to point out that 40 point games are a lot more frequent; there's been more 40+ point games in the NBA this season (80+) in about 45 games than there were in all of 2017-2018.. Also, James Harden had a ridiculous 28 40 point games in 2019. Still mindboggling even with today's stepped up scoring. Luka's on pace to lead this year but he's unlikely to even break 20. Insane that they gave Giannis the MVP that year. Unsurprising. but insane.
Holy hell man. You are quite the Debbie Downer lately. Did all the debates Trump warp your brain or something sir? Idgaf in a few years Green is fun to pull for and I can’t wait to see what happens. Jabari/Eason/Sengun/Green/&2023 pick are capable of in 3-4 years. If and when the Nets are old and injured and give the Rockets a top 10 pick.
this doesn't really make any sense. there is a definite trend in players who score 40 pts multiple times in a season - and scrub isn't it. yes - good players are getting higher scoring totals in today's defense is hampered by the rules NBA - but it's still really good players putting up big numbers on a recurring basis
I'm glad Green showed something on the defensive end of the court against Minnesota. His effort in the last two weeks had lagged to unacceptable levels. But inside the Green player tracking numbers for game #2 against Minnesota: 35 minutes 32.3 usage rate, 1 turnover 4.31 speed --one of his highest outputs of the year 105.1 defensive rating --one of his highest outputs of the year DFG attempted/made against Green 3 of 12 --much-improved effort 9/14 on his uncontested FG attempts The goal with Green is consistency. Let's see another effort like this one. Teamwide, the Rockets still gave us 63 uncontested looks, which is too many. By contrast, Minnesota only gave up 47 (and Houston hit on 23 of those for 48%).
I'm gonna relax on judging Jalen. This guy has such high variability in his play, but games like last night give me a lot of hope. I think him getting in the gym and naturally getting stronger from age will really help his game.
