Teams with those picks do not need Gordon.

Looking at the standings in the west, the #6 seed all the way down to the #13 seed have either 24 or 25 loses.

Of those seeds, 3 will miss the playoffs while the rest will.
Meaning, a lot of teams are on the cusp of making it.
Stands to reason this could be a banner year for teams looking for help?
Maybe why the Rockets are holding tight on Gordon?

The biggest issue with any EG trade , last year or this year is the salary that has to come in return.

Just about everyone who complains that he should have been traded last year totally forgets about the returning salary on a $20M contract .... It's 99% (that's a whole lot more than 14%) that they would have been forced to take back salary that extends well beyond next year's salary cap which is a deal breaker.

make a deal with dallas again to sell him in a package with Martin in exchange for powell (expiring crap) and bullock (serviceable role player also expiring) and a first round pick, gonna make sense for both teams.

I like this and Dallas might bite. We might even consider re-signing Powell at a lower salary depending on the draft. He would be a good backup center.

    3 team trade

    Houston out: Gordon
    Houston in: Beverley/swap rights w/LA in 28

Houston outlook: finally letting Gordon go and getting a mediocre asset

San Antonio out: Poeltl, Richardson, McDermott
    San Antonio in: Westbrook, 27 1st, 29 1st

San Antonio outlook: Trade a few vets for a HUGE expiring and add some solid assets to the war chest.

    Los Angeles out: Westbrook, 27 1st, 29 1st, 28 swap rights
Los Angeles in: Poeltl, Gordon, Richardson, McDermott

Los Angeles outlook: empty the chest but get a bunch of solid vets to replace the failed experiment in Westbrook. One last push to compete in LeBrons Twilight years.

Bev would actually be fantastic for this team. He wouldn't even need to play a single minute to have a positive impact on our squad of assholes.

Seeing what the Wiz and lakers did today, I’m really chomping at the bit for news of a rockets trade. I want us to be a bit more aggressive; just have a bad feeling this is gonna go like the last 2 deadlines.

Isn't that the equivalent of 4 undrafted free agents? With Giannis I expect the team to be great for the next 4 years.

I want Beauchamp. How we going to get him? Gordon and their first round back for Beauchamp?

Bucks have a number of owed 2nds - if we can snag some of those it might be interesting.

All three 2024 2nds they own would be nice (Mil, Por, Ind) plus another.

2024 is the 'double draft' there might be serious talent still available 2nd round.

The flipside is what else they would have to send to make salaries match. Can we sneak Nwora?

    To Suns:
    Eric Gordon

    To Rockets:
    Tyus Jones
    Danny Green
    Cameron Johnson

    To Grizzles:
    Jae Crowder
    Tyty Washington
    #1 pick from Phoenix

Tyus is their 4th guard. He is 39% from 3 second year in a row. He has a decent assist to turnover. Green replaces Gordon as mentor and possible buyout. Johnson for salary.

Memphis gets a younger cheaper option in Tyty which may be important as Bane comes up for extension. Crowder takes on Green role.

Phoenix moves a disgruntled Crowder and a late #1 for Eric Gordon knowing unless they win it all, they can bring him back for a year or cut him if it doesn't work out.

I then try Jones/KPJ backcourt with Green running a second unit with Eason and Martin in an attempt to play tempo... maybe an ego check in process....

Portland, Knicks, LA, PHX, Indy feel like teams who are gonna make some moves at the deadline. The Suns and the Pacers were finalists on the Rui trade.

I think if something was gonna get done with the Bucks or the Suns it already would have happened. We don’t have enough ammo to get LA’s 1st rounder. We don’t have the big man Portland wants. I’m looking at Indy or the Knicks as possible trade partners. The Knicks and Indy like Gordon.

Fournier, Cam Reddish, Knicks 2024 1st rounder for EG. Rocket move Reddish to a 3rd team. Yeah Fournier has one more year, but we need shooting.

Eric Gordon is more of a combo guard, but he's a strong, physical 6'3" and can play with or without the ball. The Houston Rockets have been open to trading the veteran for a couple of years but have held out for a high price (a first-round pick).

Gordon has another season on his contract at $20.9 million, but it's non-guaranteed (until June 28) unless his team wins the title or he's named an All-Star. That extra year gives the Rockets time to wait for the best offer.

A compromise might consist of a pick swap, with Houston using the Milwaukee Bucks' first (projected to be around No. 25) it has from the 2021 P.J. Tucker trade. The Rockets run the risk of a diminishing return, but Gordon seems likely to be dealt by the deadline.

Interested teams include the Suns, Lakers and Bucks.
