I don't but Mathurin just looks like he has an nba body and actuall shows effort on defense. green is still so thin. I am not even saying they will be better in the long haul. But it's something we will probably need to revisit in 10 years.
If Grimes is better than anyone on our roster (not true) then the problem is administrative and talent.
It has been said, but if you take Allen, you don't have Green (would have been mid lotto picking). No KPjr either
Too many branching paths to say that any of this was going to happen. All you can think about is true decision points. Green not looking like a future star, in fairness there's no real superstar after him either. KPJ overcommitment - mistake Have zero veterans, and have that one veteran be Gordon - mistake. Thinking Jabari smith was part of a big 3 in last year's draft - mistake. Letting the team drift along, directionless like they are now - mistake. I mean, I know Silas would say he wants to stay coach but at this point, dismissing him is more helpful to him than forcing him out.
And by "leftist propaganda" you mean he thinks kids getting slaughtered with guns in schools is bad and inexcusable.
I'm so proud of our two top picks Look at who is ranked dead last in defensive TPA! Even more awesome, look at who is ranked 3rd worst in the league in offensive TPA! You know you've done well when both top 3 picks are at the absolute ass end of the entire league. It's also awesome when they completely stand out on this chart too Of course, I'm sure this is all KPJ's fault.....or Silas.....or Tillman....or the red rowdies.....or the announcers.....definitely not the fault of the players, they are "budding superstars"
I'm sorry, but on what planet is Grimes a better basketball player than Sengun? What's your justification for a claim that bold? Because there's not a single statistic that favors him over Alpi.
Cherry picked redrafts... 21- #2 Evan Mobley #23 Ayo Dosunmu #24 Herb Jones 22- #3 Jaden Ivey #17 (trade up) Mark Williams Starting 5 is Nix, Gordon, Mathews, Nwaba, Fernando
THE WHOLE POINT OF A REBUILD IS TO GET TALENT GOOD ENOUGH TO COMPETE FOR A CHAMPIONSHIP. The OP's suggested rebuild would make us better right now, but ultimately never win anything meaningful with those players and no top picks because of them.
These threads are just exercises in cherry picking all the most optimum outcomes to the Rockets, not what realistically would have happened.
I'm sure others have mentioned this but keeping Allen probably means you don't have a top 3 pick so its pretty disingenuous to assume you know how the lottery would shake out. Allen also means you miss out on this year's free agency class, the actual year being competitive matters. You also don't have Alperen Sengun and likely won't be in the running for Henderson this year. We still haven't seen what we do with the mil 1st this year from the Allen trade. You are too impatient to actually consider why cap room might be important down the line. Your only real proposal is that we should have kept Allen and drafted Mobley. LMAO. Not only that, you assume just by keeping Jarrett Allen we have somehow a much better future and are a much better team but at the same time Jabari Smith, Evan Mobley and Scoot would have just as easily been available to us. You need to actually think critically before posting nonsense jesus christ man. Not only that but in your "assessment" of Stone you inadvertently admit that he hit on both his top 1st round draft choices this year. Who knows, maybe we would have been competitive with Mobley and Allen. We could have been in contention for a championship while also having a legitimate shot at scoot henderson and jabari smith. If we aren't winning a championship why tie up your cap space before 2023? Absolutely embarrassing.
Not try to pick a fight here. Need to clear up the timeline. In the season before Green was drafted, Jarrett Allen went to the Cavs in 2020-21. Allen played 51 out of possible 72 games (shortened season). That Cavs team had a record of 22-50. Tied with Thunder as the 4th/5th worst team. That's 4th (12.5%) / 5th(10.5%). They ended up getting a little lucky and got the 3rd pick (14.0%). This was a team with Darius Garland (better than any of the guys we had). I firmly believed Allen would not have ruined the tank if he was on the Rockets in 2020. Thing with good players is you can shut a good player down. But with bad players... as we seen with the Rockets last 3 years, you cannot turn it ON at your whim. Allen was pre-developed by Atkinson. Since we've seen now (in hindsight) Silas has problem developing, that was another miss. I'm not going to pronounce and say Green or Evan is better. I also love me some Al-P. But I'd be lying to say if Cav's Twin Towers were available and you didn't take it. This line up is not too shabby. Guard 1 (go for Henderson) Guard 2 Jabari Mobley Allen You should never turn down good assets (player value:contract), you keep stacking them. Especially when another team (OKC) has your future picks, and your cap is tied up with Russ/Wall bad contract. Even if Allen not end up being a Rockets lifer, imagine the return, if Stone flipped him. Turning down a good player because your team might anti-tank is short-sighted and like I said... Allen would not have ruined the tank. TBH, I don't think Stone didn't take Allen because he thinks it would ruin the tank, him and Tilman likely just didn't want to pay because they mis-calculated on Allen's market value. That's a miss.
Stone's redeeming quality according to clutchfans is that he drafted well. The truth is he hasnt. His picks have been as terrible as everything else hes done here
As @TimDuncanDonaut mentioned above, the Cavs traded for Jarrett Allen that same season and finished 22-50, landing them the 3rd pick. So yes. We would still have had the chance to draft Mobley even with Allen.
I don't disagree that's a possibility. I was questioning the next few drafts and how somehow we were still a bottom 3 team landing Scoot In your alt reality clutchfans is still complaining.
Its just delusional to think allen would somehow carry this disgusting 10 win team out of the lottery
