KPJ would be a 6th Man on this team, get a real point guard. Wemby would be perfect as a power forward, he does not have the weight to be a center. If you watch Wemby we love hang out on the perimeter, but great backside defense.
Few months ago Vlatko Cancar made a very good basket and the team promoted that highlight around a week. Contrary to Cancar, Sengun has to prove himself everyday to Rockets people. People expect him to assist like Stockton, to defend at Ben Wallace level, to dominate the paint, to block like M.Eaton,etc... Everyone talks about his 3pt shooting when the real shooting players suck. No one cares about guards' defense but expect Sengun to cover also that part of the problem. Wemby was a failure at Euroleague last year and did not want to involve there this year because of fear of exposure. He made a move similar to preferring G-League over NBA. TyTy or Josh were producing wonderful stats at G-league but they are negligible in NBA. Wemby has to prove first that he is a NBA player, Scoot Henderson also. Someone might compare Henderson/TyTy G-League numbers to enlighten us. Wemby is a 14 or 14.4 % probable Rockets player and we have to think about the other 86% possibilities. 6 out of 7 Wemby won't be a Rocket. Too much Prester John stories here.
this, 100% however what @TimDuncanDonaut has 100% missed is the stance that we have no talent on this team... couldnt be more wrong and the losing streak doesn't mean you have no talent...2018 team had a 5 game losing streak everybody is talented in nba but you need a system and discipline...a team with 12 best players in nba will be losing if no disciple and effort... people are just addicted to tanking and getting free stuff
If we get the #1 pick we're picking Wemby no matter what. Doing anything else would be idiotic. We can worry about fit later but yes, they should fit because Wemby is closer to a KD than a low post player.
Of course you can keep Tari off the bench long term. No one should prioritize Tari playing time over Sengun or Wemby playing time.
I would say Sengun is the 5 on offense and Wemby can try to be the 5 on defense, while Sengun can come in with weakside shot-blocking and stuff? I would be concerned about Wemby's sliender frame, though, perhaps he needs to bulk up. Anyway, as others have said, 14 % chance of it happening.
LMAO @ people claiming Wemby's a bust because he did bad in the Euroleague. What they're not telling you is that Sengun's team wasn't even good enough to qualify for the Euroleague, instead playing for the FIBA Europe Cup (actually 2 tiers below the Euroleage for europe-wide competition.) For the soccer fans, it's like saying somebody sucked for being bad in the Champions League but another player is better for doing well in the UEFA Cup.
He's on a 4 year deal and then he'll be a restricted free agent. If we want to keep him that long, we can keep him as a bench player for 7 years. Of course odds are we won't keep him that long. The point is you don't pass a generational talent because you want to prioritize a hustle bench player who isn't even a top 10 rookie in his class. I like Tari, but he's not someone you build around - Wemby is.
You play Sengun as 5 on offense, 4 on defense, with Wemby at 4 on offense and 5 on defense. They would seem to fit together well, to me.
