A 3rd and a later pick, or a 2nd and that’s it. But the niners will prob be asking for a 1st(no one is giving them a 1st)

Plenty of teams with later first round picks would consider it. Nobody would give a high first because those teams normally have greater needs and can't afford to take some risks. Not so with later picks.

Starting with Tennessee (#11) and going down, I could see any of those teams willing to make that deal if he's on track to be healthy/recovered.

    I wouldn't!!!
    Sam Darnold trade part deaux!

My goodness I just can't see how people can think that WE could make Lance prosper when he would be coming from (after failing in) the new, improved version of the Kubiak offense with (at minimum) a top 3 offensive play caller in the L in baby Shanny.
An offense that MAXIMIZES a running qb's strengths with an awesome play caller and a MUCH better roster than we have ta boot!

But WE'RE the ones to make Trey Lance shine.
If San Fran is willing to give up on Lance I don't want him!
Well maybe for a future 7th.

Also worth noting he was never meant to look good as a rookie. The whole thing with him is he had very little actual experience playing football at the college level, but he had all the physical and mental tools or whatever. But it was always meant to be a learning process with him - he was probably the least-NFL-ready QB highly picked in a long long time.

only a year older than Bryce/CJ and a year younger than Levis.

if Demeco wants him after seeing him in practice the last 2 years then trade the 2nd rounder for him and get Jalen Carter at #2.

… and the 49ers are looking to trade him. Nuff said.

Seems sort of irrelevant given that they may have found their version of Tom Brady. Purdy is their starting QB next year, so they should probably be looking to see what they can get for Trey Lance whether they think he's awesome or he sucks - his value will only go down the longer he sits on the bench.

    Exactly

The Texans being bad for this long has actually made the majority of this current fan base that much dumber. Saw some similar stuff in the Astros forum during the lean years... but the mental gymnastics being exercised here is far beyond that now.

They won’t trade Lance. 9er qbs get injured constantly; he’s their in case of emergency guy

I think it depends on what they can get from him and how the 49ers season plays out. If Purdy wins them a SB, then he's their QB of the next few years. You don't keep a backup QB if he could fetch you a mid-1st rounder or something. If he can only get a lower pick, then sure.

If Purdy throws 5 INTs tomorrow and the 49ers get eliminated, he's almost certainly still their starter next year, but with more questions, you're more likely to keep Lance in reserve.

Yea, and Demeco is working with garbage talent… if we get a defensive minded HC it’s gotta be the one with the ability to bring the best OC.

Both Gannon and DeMeco benefit from seeing the benefits of a good/creative offense first hand. Some DCs who have to carry their teams probably want the offense to just not f things up for them. But these both have seen the benefits of complementary football and how having these high-powered offenses have benefited their defenses.

So Texans to live in the past. Heck, make Kubiak the OC/ AJ the WR coach/ JJ the DC/Foster the RB's coach/Pitts the OL coach/Cushing the LB coach/Glenn the DB's coach etc...

This is what it appears the fanbase really wants. BTW, what did those guys ever win ?

Gotta put fans in the seats and this would do it, along with drafting a midget QB and the stadium would be full again. But it's quite likely the results would be the same as when these guys were part of the Texans org before.

I understand the desire to not want to live in the past. But I think most fans want Demeco because he's proven himself to be one of the best coordinators this season on a team that has a top offense and defense. The fact that he started his career here is just a plus. The energy and enthusiasm he shows, not to mention the way the players talk about him, make him an extremely desirable coaching candidate.

…and only 2 years left on his rookie deal. (+5th year option)

    @raining threes is right.

Texans fans: hire DeMeco! JJ for DC! Arian for RBs! Dre for WRs!
Rockets fans: bring back JVG! Hire Sam Cassell!
Astros fans: Bigg for manager! Hire Ausmus! (You might just get your wish with Bagwell “running” the team. ;))

What are we doing? Running a good ol’ boys old timers club? Let’s live in the past!

If the chiefs win with chad henne can we please stop with the “no coach is worth a first round pick”? Schemes and ability to adjust are huge. I also think a defensive minded head coach would be ****ed if this happened to them.

Unless Andy Reid is available, not even sure why this is even being brought up.

Andy Reid runs circles around Payton and as a rebuilding team, I still wouldn't give up a 1st for him.

Only time I would consider giving up a 1st is in a Gruden/TB Bucs type situation where the team is already established and ready for a SB run so those picks wont be missed.

But in a rebuild? …..absolutely not.
