KPJ: Can someone explain to me why he has become Clutchfans favorite whipping boy?

the Rockets are getting slapped around with or without KPJ so this “team results” logic doesn’t matter…they will not win many games regardless of who is in or out of the lineup

Jalen Green and Sengun are playing much better without KPJ doing his bootleg James Harden starter kit routine…that’s just facts

Rockets averaging 25 assists and 15 turnovers since he’s been out…it was 22 assists a game and 17 turnovers with him

we are 6th in passes per game since he’s been out at 296 a game…we were 17th with him

 

Rockets 18th in pace with KPJ

18th!!

A team this young and athletic was below average in pace…

Since he’s been out? 8th

 

offense ranked 29th with KPJ

ranked 22nd since he’s been out

 

But has it passed the EYE TEST?

 

Sengun and Green are playing better with more ball movement, passing, and pace

if it was Green or Sengun out with injury, all we’d be seeing right now is more dribbling and shots from KPJ…he has no synergy with Sengun, and doesn’t make Green any better

 

Dollar Store Harden makes everyone worse. Maybe with the notable exception of "lob threat".

 

Sengun - 49 touches with KPJ…67 touches without KPJ

Green - 64 touches with KPJ…82 touches without KPJ…

so, so far we have significantly increased touches leading to increased production AND efficiency, and more passing/assists as a team plus fewer turnovers along with increased team offensive efficiency

 

Pointless to hit the kpj folks with stats.
All kpj fans need to know is since kpj been out for all those stat u listed its still been 4 Ls in a row without the headhoncho. To them if he was there the games wouldn't b 20+ pts blowout but a modest 5-10 pt loss

 

Incredibly fair analysis and what many of us have been saying all along.

But as DD pointed out - there are people who support KPJ. 7 of them, all on this board, with the most vocal being DD and Stone

 

Keep the numbers coming! KPJ stans looking real dumb right now.

last year he was supposed to give us 20 and 8 or even 20 and 10 according to them…he’s better than Brunson…he’s not that far off from Tyrese Haliburton…saying 6MOY Harden and him are similar level players and he’s a better playmaker than early Houston Harden…comparing him to Fox and SGA…15-20 mil/yr will be a bargain because he could get 30 mil next offseason…the list goes on

 

With a sample size of 3....and all 3 are losses. 2 by 20+ and one to the second worst team in the league who was missing their best player.

Perhaps those increased touches for guys like Green, who already had too many touches for his quality of play, weren't exactly a good thing.

 

Haven't read most of the thread, so apologies if I am repeating what has been said before. But I feel like he is low key turning things around a bit. 55 TS% which is not bad at all for a guard, around league average. And not relying on lucky 3-point shooting. I still feel like he's best suited as a 6th man, but even some small improvements and tweaks here and there and he is a solid player in this league.

 

That is because we aren't judging KPJ on now, but rather are hoping on what he becomes......if you guys would give him the same leash you give Jalen you would see too.
