Wouldn't that exclude classes that focus on a particular theory? Why would we want to exclude that option?

My 2nd paragraph in the previous post is about theories that aren't yet well accepted (or even controversial). I think it is applicable to any field (law, social, economics, biology, ...). An advanced class on a particular theory would naturally be skewed heavily to persuade that theory. I think there is room for that in higher education.

Students sign up for these classes voluntarily and are typically aware of other theories. If they want to learn about opposing theories in detail, they can also take those classes. If they want to learn about all the various theories on a subject, they would be taking a more general class instead of a class focusing on a specific theory.

A class on a particular theory should scrutinize the theory, covering both its strengths and weaknesses. Not suggesting equal time to every critique. But avoiding any discussion of criticisms against the theory would not serve the purpose of teaching the students to critically examine it. And that's what education should be about.

When teaching a theory in a class, the goal shouldn't be to convince the students that it is correct. It should be to teach understanding of the theory, which necessarily should entail some understanding of its shortcomings.

I generally agree. Any advanced classes worth anything would explain their theory in detail, so the student understands it (and they may or may not be convinced it's right). And again, we are talking about advanced classes with advanced students. These students aren't going to accept beliefs vs this is the theory- I don't think students are going to pay for a class to be told what to believe instead of learning what the theory is. I have little doubt (law or post-grad) students would treat CRT class in the same way.

This should end DeSantis' chance at a national election.

Whether it actually will remains to be seen.

Is this the same explanation given when people were destroying historical statues everywhere and trying to erase history while protesting George Floyd’s murder?

Apparently censoring history lol. The left has been censoring history for years in schools and yet they think when someone else, not affiliated with their political views/agenda, does it’s an issue. It’s amazing how narrow minded people are.

Not allowing the AP course in African American studies. While allowing the other ethnic studies AP courses.

I didn't mean that it should technically DQ him, just that a majority of voters shouldn't vote for someone who would do that.

Apparently allowing other ethnic study courses while disallowing specifically African American studies.

DeSantis isn't qualified to determine the educational value of these courses at all.

Had the statues been in museums they wouldn't have been destroyed. The fact that they were in places of honor is where the issue was. It was never about censoring history.

Nothing I said was factually inaccurate. Yes my politics are leftist.

Yet, they aren't as hypocritical as someone who picks and chooses when individual freedom matters and when it doesn't.

My guess is that he's a better fit in Florida.
