David Crosby passed today, aged '81. he'd been in poor health for years, had several heart stents, so I guess it was just a matter of time. none of his Byrds, CSN/Y bandmates would speak to him anymore, but he remained musically relevant until the end. over the past 6-7 years he's released six albums, solo, and with some folks from Snarky Puppy, as The Lighthouse Band. there's one more in the can which should come out soon. saw CSNY on the legendary '74 tour, and Crosby & Nash in '76. wish I could have heard this show: https://music.apple.com/us/album/live-at-the-capitol-theatre/1647546773
Kinda sad that at the end his former band mates didn’t want to have anything to do with him. But, he was involved in making some really good music.
Coincidentally, my friend Dave also passed away today. Much younger and not a heavy drug user...and certainly no where near as musically talented as Crosby...but a good guy none the less. Not a good day for guys named David.
RIP your buddy. David is a really, really common name so hopefully today isn’t Davepocolypse https://www.behindthename.com/name/david/top
Jerry Garcia plays pedal steel on the studio version. I've always liked this performance, covering both Stephen & Neil.
