Better question. Would KPJ accept this? Sure he would be much better off ball. But he has declared himself head honcho. There may be some serious locker room conflict there. If you decide to build around Sengun, I'm afraid that you would have to trade KPJ this off season. KPJ and Sengun don't have very good chemistry as it is. KPJ having to relinquish his role as lead dog on this team would only make that situation worst. That should be the next thread/poll: KPJ or Sengun. Who should the Rockets build around? Since everyone just wants to troll now.
FFS - this is not a troll it is a serious question - if we are going to build around Sengun, or have him as a key piece you have to SPECIFICALLY built for his disadvantages. I would not build around anyone on this team ATM - but this is a worthy discussion. DD
U bring up a valid point a man who declared himself the head honcho/leader isn't gonna step aside for sengun that easily.
Has the coach been fired? Has the GM been fired? Has the owner sold the team? If no, then the question is premature. Just hunker down and hope the TC staff become so bored you can sneak down to some of the numerous empty floor seats like we used to do in the 70s. You'll at least get to see one NBA team most games.
How many better fit wins would this " better fit" hypothesis do for the Rox this season ? You do know that all this goes out the window if we get the 1st or 2nd pick, right? Sengun gonna be in that hypothetic Jalen and TyTy category you demonstrated..
Remember if we get the big man from France in the next Draft then Sengun will be the back up Center or be traded ! Lets hope we get our man ! Y
Why make it complicated - just make him the center of the offense for the rest of the year and see what happens. Decide this summer.
Original thoughts like building around Sengun? Imagine if that was being discussed somewhere https://bbs.clutchfans.net/threads/alperen-sengun-is-the-rockets-franchise-player.318379/page-15 If you're going to convince people to build around someone you're probably going to need to do a better job than listing so many flaws. I really like Sengun, but I'd never build around the player you described... Scola? Really? The fact is you just want to get away from Green as quick as you can. Building around Sengun is better than when you were so high on Nix being our point gaurd of our future less than a year ago though.
You'd be advised to watch Nascar or horse racing if you want speed. His speed is fine for a big. You could nitpick on any given player, on players of winning teams.
They won't commit to building around him long term, I have absolute zero faith in them. He hasn't arrived, heck, half of this forum doesn't believe in him. What makes you think the Rockets FO will? Yes, if you theoretically decide to make him your core, then you have to make at least 5x more trades..... Stone won't be doing that. You have to surround him with elite shooters.... elite perimeter defending guards for starters, a secondary PG who isn't a scorer.... Basically the crass contrast what the Rockets' rotation looks like. He is just a filler for the next big thing that's supposed to be drafted or acquired.
I would certainly hope the Rockets FO consider him as one of our team cornerstones, if only because he truly is an unselfish player. He may never be Jokic or Sabonis, but he shares their love of passing and sharing the ball. I believe he can elevate guys like Green and Smith Jr, and someone like Wembanyama. He doesn't need to dominate the game but I think he could be the key to our offense.
Not athletic. (What?) Can't dribble. (Huh?) Can't shoot threes. (Not yet...) Scola Per36: 0.4 blocks 0.9 steals 9.4 rebounds Sengun Per36: 1.5 blocks 1.3 steals 11.6 rebounds I maintain that Alperen Sengun is underrated as an athletic specimen and that he is not even in peak physical condition. Look at how far he has come in the last 3 years. My god, he was a fudge pop 3 years ago. He has very real bounce, and he is going to be very, very strong. I would not count out the possibility that he finds a way to become a plus defender. Those Larry Bird hands of his on the defensive end have a potential that is difficult to see.
