Because KPJ is a selfish player. Sengun pretty much said it in the interview. He won't do it. He wants to be the "head honcho ". If he was willing to spot up and play a 6th man role I'd be thrilled. He's just not that guy unfortunately
In order to build around Alpi - my contention is you have to choose that direction - and go all in - you are right though we can stay stationary and keep right on tanking or not fitting together properly. DD
I was thinking that with Green's maturation physically & as a player over the next couple of years... along with the team D..they'll be a jump for him. And, KPJ certainly has it in him to become a very good defensive player. Again, growth in team defense will play big for both.
Can't we play through him without going all in on him? Why do we have to make that decision so soon? I don't think anybody on this team has shown they're "that dude" yet, so why rush it? Can't we just remain flexible? Acquire good players who fit with anyone? Whether Sengun is our guy or anyone else, every team needs wings that can shoot and play defense. We can progress and develop as a team without going all in around one guy.
Only the Sith deal in absolutes..... Like others.... I am confused to why we would make that decision this season? Or why it would only be focused on building around Sengun?
Sengun and Green can be like Murray and Jokic(Denver) and Fox and Sabonis(Sacramento) both are very good offensive team. Also, we have Jabari at SF and KPJ as our 6th Man. In the draft if we get Wemby, Scoot or the Thompson Twins. In the summer free agency period, find two shooters, a new tough coach and we are ready next year.
Althoug I strongly disagree for building around mentality, it is obvious that Rockets already started to build arond Sengun when they traded team's highest scorer Wood. As Sengun is the best player of the Rockets, it is not surprising.
I kinda switched off from the post once I saw you had KPJ rated as a better fit than Green. Green plays infinitely better next to Sengun than KPJ does, that's why all the KPJ stans were saying we needed to start Fernando, because KPJ couldn't do **** in pnr situations with Sengun.
I mean it's very simple. As the SOF fans who they'd rather player with. They obviously are going to pick Green.
Al has been our best player for over a year. Despite his physical limitations, yes we should build around him. I wish he was shooting more 3 pointers. KPJ is currently a better player than Green but I don’t think that will be the case in 2 to 3 years and I even think that Green will surpass KPJ as a shooter. Granted that is a projection that goes against current trend. Combined this with the natural chemistry already between Green and Sengun and Im keeping Green. But then you have to have 3 (at least) above average defenders that can also space the floor in the starting lineup. KMJ also shows good chemistry with Al. KPJ+Jaygup+Gordon+2024 Nets pick (lotto protected) for Anuoby. Draft Victor and then im consolidating Brooklyn assets and figuring out a way to draft Cason Wallace. Then Im signing Josh Hart. Sengun/Garuba Victor/KMJ Jabari Smith/Matthews OG/Hart Green/Wallace/Washington. in this line up green is technically the point guard but Sengun is the primary offensive hub. I essentially want to run the KPJ experiment on Green for the 2023-2024 season and see where he ends up. At that point I think we will have a pretty good idea about both AL and Jalen.
Another example of kpj stans walking back on their initial thought process. First it's fernando works best alongside kpj b/c sengun aint a lob threat and they have no synergy with the pnr. Now all of a sudden kpj is the better fit alongside sengun than green. Absolute nonsense.
I wrote this same thing in another trade another variation is Scoot H. With either one I would take a veteran PG I think it would help tremendously.
4th option should be wait and see who we get this summer in the draft because top 2 pick both looking like future superstars...
If Jabari is available to be built around of then I say lets build around Jabari... He has the highest upside out of the top three, Green and KPJ...
Two years later "Hey guys maybe we should try building around TyTy". That is when you know you've died and went to hell.
It wouldn't get to that point if the team just give tyty mins now so we can see what we are working with.
