Just hire Demeco and let’s roll.

Texans can shut up ALL the bad press on ESPN by just going with DeMeco.

Texans would also immediately change the bad reputation they have with players around the league as well…

    Two birds.

It just makes sense, assuming he doesn't bomb the interview.

He’s a well qualified, innovative, young up and coming coach thats already a fan favorite in the city.

The entire Htown would be pumped with the hire if it happens.

    Just DO IT!

And if it does come about, hopefully Caserio gets out of the way and lets DeMeco run the team.

Just find the guys, do the contracts and trades and fall back after that, Nick.

I’d be perfectly content with DeMeco and an OC from the Shanahan tree

    Not all of the city

Who is on his staff is the most important thing to me.

Don’t want Demeco. We’re not righting this wrong. Get ready for more of the same if you have to let him go. Plus this would be the most Texan thing you can do which is hire your savior who also happens to be a former player. No thanks.

Let’s get someone with no ties to the organization.

From what I recall we’ve never had a former player as a HC… maybe a coordinator or such but how is that “the most Texan thing to do” when they’ve never actually done or tried it, ever.

I’d love Sean Payton but I don’t think he’d love the landing spot as much…. perhaps if somehow we could get our hands on the #1 pick and secure him a top end signal caller, he may be more willing to bite.

    oh wait

That means nothing. If Payton wants to go elsewhere, he will... even if that other team can't offer anything close to what the Texans are offering.

The draft pick "drama" has been completely overblown in this process. Its a normal coaching recruitment... that happens to have compensation attached when/if the coach agrees with another team.

But they've had a few "first time NFL coaches". Two of the three didn't work out so well.

The former player angle shouldn't make a difference one way or the other. Its not like most Houstonians would recognize Demeco if he walked by them. But being a first time NFL head coach isn't something to take lightly. There have been far more heralded coordinators than Demeco that failed in their first HC stint. Hell, Belichick failed in his first HC stint.

If he's truly ready, he will get a chance somewhere... but odds are already against him of succeeding the first go-around no matter what.

This is ridiculous if Nick and Cal agree to this bullshit.

I would immediately go with Demeco or someone else and not give up our 1st round future talent.

One of the few things that would get me excited for this team is hiring Ryan’s as the coach. And it has nothing to do with his skin color like half of this board.

Hes a fan favorite, he’s a leader always has been and has shown to be a brilliant defensive mind in this new era or football. He will command the respect of players like few else will and will pump up fans that are ready to give up on the team.

To me If he’ll take the job this one is easy…

    Payton over demeco easily

My main thing is Payton has to agree to coach here at least 5 years minimum.
