Look at their crowd, the energy and their performances and tell them they should be angry lol. Sabonis helps them so much, helps Fox and gets so many guys open looks. He’s an all star and probably all NBA. They’ve missed the playoffs for 16 straight years. At some point, you gotta make the necessary steps to get better.
Regardless of where they pick in the coming draft, I'm done with the tank after this season. They simply cannot be bad next year and hand OKC a lottery pick. They absolutely must make the playoffs next season and ensure any pick they send OKC is 15th or worse meaning no chance of winning the lottery.
What are you on about? Kings fans love the trade. Hali and Fox were not fitting well together. Both team improved. You're way underrating Sabonis. He's the next best Jokic-style big and he deserves to be an all-star this season.
I don’t value sabonis because I don’t believe that guys like him (no defense bigs) can win at the highest level, and to me ultimately that’s what matters. They can enjoy their team but to me they’re completely hopeless and i would have no interest in that.
Im no fan of wall, but how was he throwing a tantrum? This organization is a joke right now. I just feel bad for EGO having to put up with this crap. He looks depressed everytime i see him. And people really hate james for forcing his way out of this mess? Lol
I don't feel sorry for wall. He was well compensated to literally do nothing. Man made all this commotion to sht on Harden for leaving and what not, proclaiming himself the franchise player or something like that. Now he btching and airing out the Rockets dirty laundry, making us look even more of a joke to the league. Harden saw the writing on the wall when he saw us hire silas and brought in wall/cousin as "reinforcements". The funniest part in all of this is that kpj stans like to btch and moan how Green needs to b sent to bench bc he aint ready, kpj literally got promoted to pg and didn't even earn his position/was ready for it. Talk about big Ole hypocrites.
They couldn't make Fox and Haliburton work. In a vacuum Haliburton over Fox, but SAC already paid Fox the big money. Moving Fox was harder. That could be on McNair if folks were to argue. At current time, King is 4th in west, Pacers 8th in the east. As far center moves Sabonis has been better fit for Kings than the likes of Gobert for the Wolves. Sabonis is their connector and is having a very good season. Every team and their mother knew Kings owners mandated a playoff appearance. McNair was leveraging from a disadvantage. Swapped Luke with Mike Brown. I say McNair pivoted well, maybe not a home run...yet.
That's a really interesting read .... I already knew the history but the idea of legal action against tanking is a new one to me. My biggest issue with the anti tank is how it affects small market teams .... they have it harder to begin with. This could eliminate some smaller market teams. That isn't a terrible thing if you are of the belief that the league is watered down with too many teams to begin with.
The taking astros did and the one Rockets are doing is different. The players the Astros were getting as a result of the tank were not being exposed to the losing culture in the majors and by the time they came up, Astros were trying to win again. Green, Smith, Eason, senguin are all immersed in the losing culture. I think after this season we need a new coach and gm. Start over new
Sorry but it just sounds like we're tanking. John Wall is NOT one to point out bad habits. He can't see the bad habits in his own game. No sh*t the kids are allowed to make mistakes others aren't allowed to make. We all want them to give the kids more minutes. The more minutes you give kids, the more mistakes they're going to make. If you're going to yank the leash when they make mistakes, then why the F were y'all complaining about Jalen's role last season and Sengun's minutes and Jabari's shots? There's nothing new here. John Wall has been pointing the finger at everything but himself since the day he joined this league. He's the prototype of what KPJ is becoming: holding the offense hostage for an assist, low % shots, capable of playing defense but doesn't feel he owes it to the team the moment he scores some points. The real disaster for the kids is having John Wall and Eric Gordon as leaders. Two of the whiniest Rockets of all time. People are still imagining some cartoon-like definition to tanking. Tanking is prioritizing the youngest players on the squad. All you have to do to lose is give more minutes to players with less experience. No one is out there tactically intending to lose, it's just a byproduct of playing younger players and yes I hope the organization is doing that to the max. The only player I've ever see have irreversible bad habits from tanking that affected a significant career is Ben Simmons. One instance and that guy had bad habits before he ever joined the NBA.
Wall isn't the player he was in Washington but dude gave us the truth when nobody in H-town would. It's not a civil tongue he uses but he confirmed our nightmares.
He isn't a problem now but given he barked at players who are his senior in a forgettable regular season game tells you he isn't going to accept anything as a rookie or soph. The problem isn't him however the environment would suck him in and no matter how hard he wants to prove he is a winner, this is neither Auburn nor would it ever be.
I don't think Green and Bari would openly challenge the main guy but you could see them bark at each other.
Because he's actually been on the team and knows the inner workings, while all posters here were just guessing who's fault the lineups etc are and what happens behind the scenes? Not sure what's hard to understand about the significance of that insight. But that has nothing to do with most of the stuff he's saying? Just because we tank it doesn't mean the GM should give the coach dysfunctional lineups that prevent growth, let terrible player behaviour go unpunished (like Wall said, on other teams they'd be let go for this stuff). Neither is it normal to have Wall not be allowed to practice with the team and having to leave the facility before the tram arrives. See the above, tanking doesn't anyhow mean you have to instill bad habits or disrespect players. He still has insight that really helps provide context and what's really going on with this franchise. If only playoff legends were allowed to talk about the franchise or deemed a respectable voice, we might as well shut this entire board down because everyone is an unknowledgeable bum about the team and never had NBA success. you included of course. People here with 10k+ posts taking their posts serious and then dismissing the voice of an actual NBA vet who played here and talked to the staff is high comedy.
Most of the rich would want to do something, may it be charity, some sort of an executive gig. In this case he wanted to play. This is no ordinary homie, he didn't want to stay home with his kids even, it could lead to frustration and even lead to violent outbursts. Let the athletes play no matter how much free dough they get.
Wall could disagree with the tank. He's also mad that we stunk without him, than with him. Players at the back end of their career have a hard time accepting reality. Wall is confirming things that fans had an inkling, but a bit depressing that the lack of accountability is true and the tanking in not only FO but into the coaching strategy as other posters said. Wall may not care but even though he's playing for one of his preferred destination, whom the Rockets sent. Most of that paycheck he's cashing this year still comes from the Rockets. Clippers pays him +6mil, rest of that bill is Houston. He can gossip the bad, but little mention of any the fair stuff Rockets did right by him. Rockets org failing in culture accountability, and in this case, also failed in a past star remembering Stone's gestures and Stone's attempt to rebuild Rockets as a star friendly destination. L on both sides.
If you watch that interview you can easily tell that he's not bullshitting at all. Not just during the 10 minute stretch where he talked about the Rockets but the whole interview. He's not talking to any PR people, he's not writing any narratives, he's just speaking his truth. I'm not going to discredit someone just because he's saying stuff I don't want to hear. I get that we were tanking then but they treated him like trash that they just had to throw away. That's why I was saying back then that we should've just cut him with 2 years left. There was no trade coming, anyone with eyes could see that. All we did was build up ill will for nothing. Even without this video he's surely been telling other players how he was treated here.
Depressing thing is if Green and KPJ doesn't listen to Wall, will it be different if it's another vet: (Rose, Beverly, or Conley). Tillman pay Draymond 25mil per to Superman punch KPJ at practice? Old or New testament. If old, there's really just two things an org could do: money and play time. Contracts are locked, so the only thing to use is PT.
