Most aren't questioning Sean Payton's credibility, impact, leadership, etc. It's just not worth giving the Saints a first round pick. The most I'd give in a trade for him is the 33rd pick.
My bad - I misread and thought you were saying your proposal was equivalent to the #12. Sorry about that!
Colts and Broncos are both easily playoff teams with the right coach and solid QB play. Either team would be attractive. Colts are an easy sell to a veteran QB as well, like Rodgers for example if he's out in GB.
Broncos traded 2021 & 2022 picks for Russ. They received the Niners first round pick from the dolphins in a trade for Bradley Chubb.
No problem. Thanks. Don't know much about Carthon but SOMEONE has been making some very wise draft choices (Trey L. notwithstanding) there the past few years so if he had a hand in that it might be a good hire. The Texans fan in me hopes not though. I wonder if he has a relative named "Maurice"?
Probably sharp of Ben to be patient. Definitely was in my top 3 of candidates..& then there were 7. Let’s not be too patient Nick
Wow, this dude was my dark horse pick if it wasn't Gannon or DeMeco. I'm starting to come around on trading the 12th pick for Payton. This franchise needs a tone overhaul and Payton could be our Parcells
I don’t buy that as why that dude pulled his name out of the running. His interviews must not have gone well or he knew he wasn’t getting hired.
They had a good point on the radio today when they said Payton wouldn't allow the Texans to get fleeced in a trade for him because it would obviously hurt their ability to rebuild. So I am thinking maybe the compensation is next years Browns pick...but with the way Deahaun looked thats pretty risky too. Another option might be to take the #12 pick and trade down for an additional 2nd or 3rd then trade the pick to the saints.
Based on the news floating out there about the Texans and their *ahem* “business practices”, keeping all their picks and the history between the player and team, it’s gotta be DeMeco unless he bombs the interview (which he wont).
Payton has to agree to come here first… it’s not like the Saints will just take the best draft pick offer and he’s yours. If he agrees to come here, then the Texans can work out compensation…. Maybe one of their future picks next year, but unlikely to be the 12th this year.
Trading down from #12 should nab the Texans 2 firsts from a good team that most likely will get a low pick again next year.
Can be said of almost any team.. including ours where 9 wins win the division and we beat all 3 teams in it… also, how many vet qbs you gonna throw at Indy til something sticks? And broncos have the qb, so is the coach all that was missing? Cuz if they need more from the qb they are stuck with Wilson for 200 mil and all the draft capital.. but sure, they are most attractive of the other teams.. don’t think that they are as good of an option as the Texans when you add in young/cheap roster, tons of draft capital and lots of money.
