it doesnt even matter who you draft or where you draft if you set up a nice system and coaches to develop...nobodys more talented between top 50 drafted and anyone can be the best player...

you need to be able to motivate inspire, educate, lead and develop..anyone with half a brain can pick you few best players at the time of the draft , only the best GM will know how to set up the system to keep developing them at faster rate than others and make them overcome the obstacles

Jalen's shot and pass selections are really bad. But I believe in him. With a real coach and a veteran PG, he will be good. Someone has to teach him how to play. These are clearly not KPJ and Silas.

I don't think it's that early. I think it really comes down to effective basketball playing. There's plenty of 2nd year players who have figured out how to play basketball the optimal way. Franz, Sengun, Giddey, Mobley, have all made strides in playing controlled winning basketball, where as Green is just literally lost on all aspects and freestyling.

I think in Green's case, since he is the #2 pick and the athletic scorer type, the expectation is more and people underestimate the importance of learning the game. Green seems to need more coaching than Sengun and Bari (probably is the case for JC). And with the absence of it, he is struggling big time, and we get the feeling that he will not improve much at the current rate, which I think is a valid concern if we don't have a coaching change as soon as possible.

This play caught my attention during the game as well. Not only we don't have any off ball screens and cuts planned when Sengun holds the ball in the post up, the players don't move at all even though they see the play is stuck and Sengun is a great passer to the cutter. If we had normal coaching this and many other problems would have been solved long time ago.

Edit: there was another play in the second half, where he had to shout 'move' a couple times to Gary. These guys really have nobody to learn from. normally, a vet should be calling these.

Did we have a chance at drafting Pablo? Was he on the board and we bypassed him?
Then you can’t use that to try and compare…

Silas probably only runs dribble handoffs and PNR in practice. The players are just freestyling out there when Sengun is in the post.

Poor coaching. Doesn't even look like they have done a walk through of a scenario like that.

Sengun is a solid prospect and a joy to watch. And @hakeem94, I appreciate the faith that you have in him. But I don't see any path or future in which he's better than Hakeem.

Better than Brad Miller--a two-time All-Star with a distinguished career--no problem. Better than Ben Wallace, sure. Better than many of the underrated centers like Artis Gilmore, Bill Walton, or Elvin Hayes, maybe.

But let's see what Sengun can do and if he can stay healthy--something that many of the guys in the list above struggled with.

No one is more talented in the top 50? That may be the stupidest comment ever posted on this board.

You need players that can play both ways. A team can hide one player somewhat if they have really strong defenders at other spots.

Keeping Sengun healthy is the only reason that I'm not overly worried that his minutes/usage are so restricted. He is so young. I hope the training staff can help him build a steady career.

You have to sacrifice some players to disrupt the other team's rythym. Rockets never does.

Few nights ago Clippers used Batum in that position to stop Sengun. The only task of that player to disrupt opposing team's biggest threat.

The most suitable pitbulls/kangals in Rockets roster are Tari, Tate and Garuba. Ego used to be, not anymore.

A new coach is going to ask them and opposing team's career high nights will disappear. Soon.

Yeah Orlando drafted a bust Jalen Suggs as well before Franz.

    Banchero was picked before Jabari.

It's what they been doing. In the headhoncho offense when kpj is stuck, he's gonna force a bad shot through regardless. It looks awkward as hell when sengun does It bc man really doesn't want to take those type of shots.
