I'd love to see the Texans hire Demeco Ryans.

Jameis Winston and Taysom Hikl are light years better than Davis Mills and Jeff Driskel. Not to mention they had 2 elite running backs and a really good defense. None of which we have.

    A competent Texans franchise:
-Lose to Colts in week 18
-Give up a 1st for Sean Payton
-Draft Bryce Young 1st overall and let Payton mold him like he did Brees
    -Start winning

    Incompetent Texans franchise (aka reality)
-Win a meaningless game week 18
-Don't give up a 1st for Sean Payton because "we have too many holes"
-Draft a meaningless player at 12 and whatever player is on the board at 2
    -Continue losing

Guess what reality we are in. Texans will stay being losers and fans will be happy that we kept the 12th ovr pick lmao

Jags & Giants are likely picking top 10 again this year without a new HC. It’s truly everything in this league. See the Bucs after the massive downgrade from Arians to Bowles

I get it. I’m wrestling with the idea. Unfortunately he’s 59 years old and there is no guarantee that he sticks around for 10 years, or even 5. If we could know that, it would almost certainly be worth it. There also might be other younger candidates we could hire who turn out to be awesome HCs. I like the idea of finding the next SP than hiring a potentially over the hill one. Then of course, there is the question of what is SP without drew Brees? Obviously both were great for each others careers. It’s just hard to say.

And with this team needing every single resource to add an infusion of talent, trading high draft picks to hire SP feels like robbing Peter to pay Paul.

Trade cooks + filler for mid 1st rounders and flip it for Payton.

The Bryce Young guys should be all over Sean Payton as coach.

I like Demeco a lot but I worry about him putting a staff together on offense. Same fear I have with all defensive coaches.

Same here. No way I could be mad at hiring Demeco but looking at it objectively, I think in today's NFL you are putting yourself at a disadvantage by at least taking a shot at trying to hiring an innovative offensive mind.

And even if Demeco hires a good young OC, with any success that guy won't be around very long.

No one is giving up a first for Cooks. Maybe a 3rd and then we can package two 3s for him seeing as he only has one year left on his contract

And I have a feeling even in that scenario that Texans have to pay a large portion of next year's contract. He needs to go, you cant have his crappy attitude around the team

Unsure if the feelings are mutual. The Texans really need the new HC to buy-in to using the 1.2 pick on a QB, Young or Stroud or whomever.
