Just saw DJ Reader was ranked 6th by PFF.

**** the Texans for not trying to lock him down...

And Nick Martin, and Randall Cobb and Eric Murray. Between the trades and letting some guys go like Reader while overpaying for useless aforementioned BOB has to be considered one of the worst GMs ever.

I remember how excited everyone was to have selected DJ Reader, many of us thought he was going to be the steal of the draft. The guy was going to be a stud, but the Texans mismanaged him. And they didn’t appreciate the talent of Reader. And he ended up leaving to not much fanfare.

I’m glad to see DJ Reader is doing so well, I was not aware he was so highly regarded in his position. The truth is you build defenses on the back of sound defensive players like DJ Reader. Building the trenches is the recipe for success in the NFL.

HUGE mistake letting him go. A young defensive star with leadership skills. Made no sense not to pay him

Carlos Watkins is making plays in the DL rotation for a playoff team, just like Omenihu.

Great run stuffer. Texans’ D has been crap against the run since we let him walk

There are literally 3 cheap rotation players on the DL in the playoffs, all were drafted in the 4-6 rounds by the Texans and then tossed aside by BoB/EasterCaserio.

I don't know if anyone noticed this year, but the DL was a bit of a weakness for the Texans.

I suspect that not a few Texan drafted players when they reach FA seek out better teams. I do not blame them.

IIRC some of calculus for not retaining Reader was that he was likely going to get overpaid in FA and that he was easily replaced in the draft. That might some CYA, if Reader told the Texans to pay him like an all-pro or he bolts.
