Remember when the DOJ would wait till after the midterm to announce any new serious activities concerning Trump? Maddow said it was an excuse for inaction against Trump. "Garland memo to DoJ on election year sensitives doubles down on Barr's policy against investigating candidates without approval". Like this policy or not (potential for abuse by the top DOJ guy), the DOJ under Garland is looking much more like a truly independent agency than it was under Bill Barr. Trump never respected nor wanted that independence. Biden returns the agency back to respectability.
In the real world nobody gives a crap about respectability. Republicans are savage and bend the rules. They'll push for whatever voting suppression rules they can pass legally (georgia). Democrats always play fair and nice. Biden did not do anything illegal because he never had wrongful intent which the entire presidential records act is based upon. If this would've happened under trump his aides shred the papers and we never hear about this story. It's always dems bending over for "respectability."
I don't know if I would call it a witch hunt if we are simply holding individuals accountable. I'm fine with holding Biden accountable. From the outside looking in, it appears that both cases are different. I'll have to wait for how DOJ chooses to pursue each case since I'm only on a forum providing my opinion. I think we should be consistent across the board. Republican, democrat, independent, libertarian, etc, if caught, rules should be enforced equally, with punishment handed based on the circumstances and laws. EDIT: Regarding your last sentence, I agree with you, but at the same time, I've yet to meet a perfect human, so he did what he had to do to keep his election clean I guess. Should of done the right thing, but doesn't minimize the accomplishments he has had as a president (whether you agree with them or not).

I don't know the law. The DOJ appointed a special councel to investigate. You can't say it's nothing with an investigation on-going.
