ClutchFans Game Thread: Rockets @ Kings 1/13/2023

In one of his recent podcasts, Bill Burr coined the phrase “make-a-wish defense,” which is when a team’s real-game defense resembles the defense they’d play against a kid who was brought in by the Make A Wish Foundation.

He was talking about football but the same could be said about the Rockets’ defense tonight. In fact, the Rockets defense tonight was so bad that if they were guarding a kid from the MAWF, he’d get mad at them for not trying.

In all seriousness, what the hell has Lionel Hollins been teaching these kids? Maybe he should be on the hot seat.

 

Jabari did good.

Jalen did good in the first half.

How can a team with so much youth and explosiveness be so hopeless to follow at times?

How are we allowing our guys to build bad habits again and again with no accountability?

I truly think Jalen, Jabari, and of course Alpi will be special. But will it be under Silas?

KMJ had a bad game - would of loved to see Bari Eason Sengun Gordon Green

Green learning how it is to be the primary ballhandler under pressure

Jabari looks a lot better without KPJ spamming shots

I rather Rockets give up 2s and stop helping in post.. every team shoots 45%.+ from 3 against us

We are still small with Tate and KMJ out there

Best part of tonight, Jalen left the bench during an altercation and might catch a suspension, meaning the Rockets might win a game soon.

 

Getting pretty sick of this ****. I don’t expect them to win much, but there needs to at least be some kind of improvement. The defense is just completely unacceptable.

 

Never again this season will I watch a Rox game that starts after 7:30

 

Defense needs work for sure, but with kpj out the teams offense was actually clicking until we ran out of steam. There's only so much the team could do without an actual coach/pg

 

Jalen's first half and Jabari's fighting effort at the end were the only highlights

 

I feel like we need a younger defensive coach - Hollins defense gives up 3s like that’s not current NBA meta… We sag off corner 3s to help in post.., and then give up 3 after 3 , just backbreakers

 

Feigen needs to shut up.
