KPJ: Can someone explain to me why he has become Clutchfans favorite whipping boy?

The funny thing about that game is that they yanked out Sengun when they were still in it and he only had 4 fouls that is how I know this org is not serious about trying to win....

They are tanking it is so obvious.

The tanking part is besides the point -- that fans want to see "more passing" when getting their sht pushed inwards is what I find cute.

    "but the stats"

    https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/nba-player-ratings/

Looks like KPJ is the best offensive player on this team. His defense matches the eye test sadly, but nobody on this team is a finished player. The way he gets accused of all the teams misery is just comical.

They don't care what the fans want or don't want.....this is entirely the point.

There is nothing we see that they don't....they know playing through Sengun is the right way of playing, they know that they can get their guards to play defense by simply instituting some accountability, and they know the same for not playing faster....

This is 100% on purpose they are letting a "Lord of the Flies" situation exist to FOOL the fans and make us think we are developing when they are really trying to get a top pick over and over until they get "A DUDE" - and they extended the tank to next year too...even though our pick is only top 4 protected....unless we get "A DUDE" in this draft....we will be right back here next year saying the same things.

b b b but "dEvElOpMeNt" --- tanking sucks. Being a loveable loser mired in mediocrity with no chance to get better sucks more. The Kevin Martin era should be enough example of that.

We are clearly tanking - and yes it sucks.

I'm surprised to see this post from you, and I just want to clarify what you're saying here. You think that Silas (or Stone) has decided to play Sengun low minutes because they think playing him more might result in too many wins?

The RAPTOR system has two components: box score and ON/OFF.
On Boxscore Jalen and KPJ get offensive positives because they are given the usage and they get offensive stats. Sengun gets + on defensive Boxscore, because he gets measurable defensive stats: DReb, Blocks, etc.

The key is the ON/OFF. Sengun gets the highest Offensive ON/OFF, because the offense is better when it’s run through him. But he gets low Defensive ON/OFF because team defense gets compromised with him on the floor.

I think most commenters here have picked up on these things intuitively, RAPTOR doesn’t say anything here that can’t be seen with the eye test. No need to harp on commenters, the sentiment is correct and is backed by the analytic data.

I think that yes, that we might win some more games if he played longer - and they know this, and are limiting him on purpose.....

    Yes.

Also watch how many times someone like KMJ is hot and will make a big dunk and immediately get yanked out of the game.

This smells so fishy to me......it has to be on purpose.

I don’t disagree. But you disliked harden even though he’s a GREAT player. Now you like KPJ with similar (but worse) play style by merely being GOOD. I just find that funny.

Probably has something to do with the pathetic state of the roster. Decent looks amazing when surrounded by dogshit.

You are telling me Harden didn’t look amazing in his Houston days surrounded by whomever were on the roster? He was the MVP you know.

Pretty sure he was referring to KPJ as "decent".

I think he was saying a decent KPJ looked amazing on this roster, which is why DD likes him. That’s BS to me

From what I remember, there were very few complaints about Harden outside of Lin fans till the roster got better.

The real complaints about Harden started when the Rockets had a championship contending roster.

Didn't want to dispute the Sengun triple double thread (let that love fest continue)....
so let's bring some talk here

    @clos4life

    Rockets are 2-2 without Sengun.

    Won vs Utah and Atlanta
Lost vs Utah and New York

Never wished Sengun injury.....just a month long vacation like Tate, lol

Purpose being that Sengun is neither good at Dunker Spot or 3-pt line and
therefore his man sits in the paint making S'mores.....clogging up things
for KPj, Green, EG, JC......all of which have regressed this year as a result.

Remove the square peg and our guards can pin their ears back
and just go at attacking the rim.

If everyone on the court can shoot 3's.....you get , drive, pitch and catch,
skip along the perimeter of just shoot.

That's goes with the Rockets analytics favorite points:
    1) Near Rim
    2) FT's
    3) 3-pointers

    With Sengun removed:
If it's Bari, Tari, Kenyon, Tate replacement (opportunities x 3's everywhere)
    3's > 2's
If it's Garuba, Bruno replacement (opportunities x rim run/ lob pass...And1 FT)
    3's > 2's

They only became contender because of Haren’s MVP level performance, in consecutive years. Dude, seriously.

I know a lot of you hate him for how he left Houston. But come on.

Currently the team as a whole are bottom feeders which means you would have to place major emphasis on your selections you drafted high to getting minutes

18 shots for a young SG is really not chucking which is really just little over 4 shots per quarter, you make it seem like he is chucking 23+ shots per game and freezing out Wilt/Jordan level players on the roster

Not looking at it just from ppg, because I already told you the perspective I look at it from being he basically came straight out of HS into the fire because of the covid situation

If he was getting 17ppg as last season on 18 shots per game then you would be on to something

Green/Smith and Sengun should get the lion share of shots since that is the core of the rebuild, including who they grab this upcoming draft

The entire team defense sucks, which is as a team they are in bottom tier, one player can't cause that to happen, but I would expect that type of thinking from a person who solely relies on stats and park ball experience to think that, kudos to you for sticking to your format

I don't dislike Harden and I don't love KPJ - I just think KPJ is treated unfairly here and elsewhere.

18 shots a game is a lot for a player that sucks though.

You don't typically let your worst players chuck up that many shots.
