I thought he as a future all-NBA caliber player. Maybe even 1st team if he can score 25-30 on decent efficiency.

Now I'd be happy if he makes 1 all star team. It'ls all about the shot. It has to come or else he's just a role player.

Touch, Curry, A.Brooks, Kyrie … they have touch to add different spins to layups.

I rather Jalen just go back to Morant mode and try and dunk everything … and use the floater Morant and Luka use off backboard

He was doing that the first quarter of his rookie season and it was pretty bad...

Jalen still needs his body to develop a lot more .

This off-season will be very important .

He still needs to practice shooting

But if he can add another 10 of muscle then many more of his drives will convert

He gets fouled a good bit for someone who doesn't have that dangerous of a jump shot- if he can improve his shooting skill defenders will have to play him differently and he can thrive

Still young . Still immature body . He can't play the way he's supposed to yet. We ought to have him be involved in more off ball movement , giving him or teammates in rhythm 3's

Role players play defense. Jalen is a boom or bust player. He's either going to be a multi-time All Star or he's going to be a spark off the bench. Can't waste a starter slot on a player that can't score efficiently *and* isn't a plus defender. Mobley, Barnes, Cade and Franz as his peers will likely always be plus starters due to their defensive acumen even if they do end up as middling offensive players (which seems likely for Barnes and Mobley). Jalen doesn't have this luxury.

The clock is ticking, I feel like pretty soon we'll know if the delusions about Jalen Green one day being a star will play out or if we drafted a taller, less efficient Lou Williams that can't play any defense.

Put Jalen as the 6th man and let him cook against the other team's bench until he gets more efficient.

You act like there is no inbetween.

Tons of fringe stars in the league.

Jalens not nearly as athletic as Morant despite the hype. Jalen is quicker than Morant, but flat tires on elevation, that's why he got blocked so much.

I think he needs to just gain muscles and learn to decelerate. That way he will live at the line. I don't see his touch ever getting as good as the Kyries of the league

I remember AB and CP3 said bowling helped them alot with touch… makes you wonder if Jalen should pick it up

Here is what I’ve observed about Jalen from watching him over the last year and a half:

1). He’s a confidence player. When he’s not thinking too much and playing with confidence, the games comes easy for him. When he lacks confidence, he struggles. It’s very visceral. As expected, he’s a young guy that needs to get tougher mentally.

2). He doesn’t have good court vision. Some of this will come with experience, but he doesn’t see other opportunities on the floor when he’s made up his mind that he’s gonna dominate the ball. He over-dribbles and often takes poor shots, while missing open teammates.

3). His ball handling needs work; he turns it over too much.

4). His talent is supreme. He can drive past anyone, and get his shot off against anyone. He could even be a dominant force on defense if he wanted to be. He could become a really good shooter. There has been no real indication of any limitations on his talent. The key is beefing up that bball IQ.

4). He’s improved his physicality and he’s finishing better at the rim. He’s gotten stronger. It’s not consistent, but it’s improved.

5). His defense is terrible, especially perimeter defense. There’s no reason for it and there’s no excuse for it.

6). His shooting is a work in progress. He needs to get more efficient. The stroke is good and he’ll eventually improve, but not so good right now.

I’m basically looking at a young guy who is still super raw. Inefficient shooter, bad defender, not capable of being the primary ball handler, bad court vision and bball IQ, with enormous talent and a unique ability to score the ball. He has the tools to master his weaknesses with time and dedication.

I wish he was further along. Someone told me before we drafted him that it would take 2 years until he was good, and I was like, really? But he was always gonna be the rawest prospect at the top of the draft.

not making excuses, but I really think we’ve done him a disservice by not providing structure and a backcourt mate that could facilitate and help put him in good spots. Likewise the coaching and the lack of accountability may be reinforcing bad habits. I’d like to see what he could do next to a decent point guard and a new coach.

I expect him to improve the 2nd half of the season, and we as fans need to keep supporting him and helping his confidence. Silas has to coach him better. I’ll start really worrying about Jalen if he still looks like this at the end of the year, but I remain high on his potential. We need to do better with his development, period.

Green is shooting .326 from 3 this season, thats effectively .978pps

Green is shooting .465 from all 2pt shots this season, thats effectively .93pps.

Conversely, since your probably saying take more "mid range shots". Hes shooting .357 from 16ft+ for effectively .714pps.

    From 10-16ft hes shooting .339, effectively .678pps.

    Its actually increasing his efficiency.

His most effecienct shot is at the charity stripe, obviously, at .793 for 1.586pps.

Followed by his shots within 3ft .618 for 1.236pps.

Then his 3pt shot is his 3rd most effecient look.

Very good points. Jalen will end up being the best player in that draft and will be an offensive force. His first half yesterday is the kind of offensive player he will become with experience. Yes, he has a lot of work to do, but I have seen no evidence of him being lazy or entitled.
We have a great start with a core of Jalen, Jabari, Sengun. None of them can even buy a drink legally. The impatience on this board is mind-boggling, especially since the GM pretty much said they were targeting 24 to be ready to compete (double-speak for we are tanking).

The fact that he’s lightning quick makes you forget there’s no damn spacing. The worst shooting team in the league = least space to attack the basket. Put any star guard on the worst shooting team, his efficiency will dip.

See: Lakers, Wolves and any team with Ben Simmons eventually.
