Correct! Below is the original color scheme, which the team "secretly" unveiled with the first logo for their Super Bowl bid. But then the Rams did indeed go navy/bronze (?) and the team scrapped the scheme. Too bad - I really like it; hope they revisit it.
I honestly don't like the navy/bronze... didn't like it when the Rams did it and glad the Texans avoided it. Rams have since gone away from it.
It's the same thing with the uniform changes call every year....We try to fit in the old Oilers colors then finally come to the realization that it's still the helmet....Texans inside the white helmet for '23!
A couple of thoughts. Bud still lived in Houston and he may have regretted it during his latter years when flying probably sucked. I’m sure he didn’t give two effs during the Titans Super Bowl run and VY years when Reliant looked like Nashville South. Give Bud some credit - he voted for Houston to have another NFL team. Did anyone notice the Grand Parkway around Katy is named for Lanier? Oilers merchandise is readily available at like Academy. I bet it sells as good as Texans merchandise. I read Amy Adams is not interested in letting the Oilers brand go. I’m not sure how active Cal is interested in rebranding the Texans - there’s precedent with the Bobcats who rebranded as the Hornets despite the original Hornets history being in New Orleans with the Pelicans. A rebranded Oilers would be nuts - piece of Houston history that is slowly fading with time. I grew up during Jack Pardee run and shoot years. Yes we blew in the playoffs but that’s being a fan.
The Oilers coming back home would be a shot in the arm for the city and morale! There would be a sea of blue all over the city! But I am curious if Cal has even ever mentioned it to Amy.
At this point, just put an “L” on the helmet, any color. Say it’s for “Lovie” but we all know what it’s really for.
Just put a steaming pile of dog poo on there. Or the letters OK. We can have people make fun of us by calling us the Oklahoma Texans. Seems fitting.
When they say 2024, do they mean two years from now? It's confusing because the league year spans two years. To me, next year is 2023-2024, so I'm not sure which season they mean... Guessing there could still be a logo change as well, but because it doesn't appear on jerseys, media wouldn't see it...
So they put the survey out a few weeks ago(?) but already have new uniforms (under wrap except for the media) And won’t be debuting them for another year or two?
Exactly. Just weird. Obviously the polls (like Sean Payton and possibly these jerseys?) are to try and get fans interested again and get more money into Cal's pockets. They meant nothing from an actual design perspective. Maybe he's finally feeling the lack of fan support? *Still wondering if this could mean this upcoming season? It just makes sense if there's a new coach and possibly a new QB.
I hate that. Wish it were sooner. Wonder if they just showed the media colors then? I know it's a long process, but that seems awfully soon. I feel like there's a good chance of them including a Columbia Blue-esque color, based off of what the media is saying.
