This is the kind of BS they come up with when they see KPJ is averaging 20/5/5 on 60% TS.... while a certain other guard is averaging that same 20 points but on 50% TS

I am very much against using +/- as a measure against a player without proper supporting evidence, but I recall you doing that all the time, using stats without context or far beyond what they mean just to make your point sound reasonable.

And generally kpj stans are kings of using team stats for or against individual players as they wish.

 

He's clearly talking about the last 14 games, the stretch in the post that he quoted where the rockets are 1-13. In that stretch he's got a 60.2% TS.

 

If Green or Jabari could shoot league avg, KPJ's stats would be even better.

Excellent point. This is the reason they need to put KPJ on the second unit. Let him feed the ball to KJ, Mathews and Garuba while a real PG tries to help Green and Jabari out.

 

Is this "real" PG going to take the shots for them? Will the new guys passes hit them in the bread basket just perfectly so that they can have a better chance of converting the wide open shot? TyTy has gotten some burn and guys arent making shots for him either. Just curious. Maybe KPJ should give all these guys shooting tips after each practice since he seems to be the purest shooter out of the bunch.

 

One way to find out. What they are doing is not working. Get additional info before the draft and free agency. I’m not sure what everyone who is against moving KPJ out of the starting PG role wants to do. Status quo?

As for shooting tips after practice… absolutely. That’s what a head honcho would do.

 

Another huge aspect to the determination of a PG's effectiveness would be passes that should be made that are not. If you don't see the open guy or don't realize you can get the ball to him in a spot that would clear space for him, that's a big problem.

 

Im not sure what the personnel change would do to other players not being able to hit the broad side of a barn though. KPJ is sandwiched among other PGs like Fox, Curry, Lowry, Shai, Brunson in terms of potential assists and actual assists. If the guys on this team could shoot even average when given those opportunities and KPJs assist numbers were at 7-8 per game how would that impact the discussion? He's been an inefficient player himself most of the year no doubt, but there appears to be some signs of life and those numbers are climbing. Should we start thinking about benching Jalen Green and Jabari Smith too? Im all for improving the roster but Sengun and KPJ are our two best players according to RAPTOR at the present time.

 

He's the head honcho. With great power comes with great responsibilty. I wouldn't be so harsh on him if he didn't come up with this head honcho bs but if he is the head honcho of the worst team in the league, he'll be criticized the most naturally. Him having objectively better season than Jalen doesn't mean crap since Jalen didn't set the bar too high.
