Nothing criminal because the FBI director didn't think she should be prosecuted. But something did happen to her - she was paid politically.

It's not just intent. Lying, obstruction, gross negligence, knowingly mishandling, and actual harm done should play a part. Of course, it's all subjective but there is a standard to follow. And yes, I do think people with power have a better chance of escaping responsibility but if you look at previous cases, it's not all that uniform. Trump should have already been in jail if he wasn't the former POTUS. Gen. Petraeus should have faced some jail time instead of just probation and a fine for providing classified intel to his lover and lying about not having any classified materials. Clinton is more tricky - yes, she has a home-based server, but that was approved by the state department, and she did not intentionally move classified information through it and should have known better given her position. Probably should have faced some fines.

    Don't know.

What is the actual content? Was it sold to foreign power? Was it shown to others that shouldn't have seen it? Was it in places that others could reasonably have access to it? Then make some judgement based on those??

Ummm.... well she did lose a very close election in which most of the data driven pollsters credited "Comey Announcement" as a major dip in the independents in swing states dipping at the worst possible time enough to cost her those precious margins.

So yeah... I'd say Clinton paid a pretty big price, and as a country we probably paid ultimately because it might very well have been the one thing that led us to having Trump as president, and a ultra conservative supreme court for a generation.

So yeah.. Screw Hillary for being a dumba$$ with classified docs, and listening to Collin Powell about using a private server so you could skip over some red tape.

    Pretty much correct.

See Reality Winner vs. Hillary Clinton. Reality Winner served real time because it was easy to prosecute based on intent which was ultimately enough by the prosecutor based on political intent. She released docs to the press with the obvious intent to make the Trump government look bad.

Hillary didn't have proven intent that she did anything with the classified docs that was self serving or working against the interest of the United States. Comey and Lynch knew that a jury would never all agree that there was intent and they also knew that Hillary's lawyers would probably make the trial all about overreach of the intelligence bureaucracy on the classification system, and that's not really a fight the DOJ would want aired in public.

With Trump I think the DOJ should investigate intent above all. From the beginning all I wanted to know is WHAT THE HELL is he doing with nuclear docs among others. Get that question answered so the American people can feel confident we don't have a traitor in our mix before this guy runs again for President. That's really freaking important to know. IMO this is potentially a huge national security issue... BUT... if Trump really was just hoarding memento's and love letters from his boy toy, etc.... whatever, I think the DOJ shouldn't be weaponized in that manner to stretch a dumbass being a dumbass into him being perceived as the Manchurian Candidate.

So I care, and at the same time alot of these "Mishandling of Docs!!" stories are kind of blown out of proportion for politics.

As long as Biden reads from the script he won't be a subject to a special council.

In this case, "following the law" means you can't prosecute Biden until 2025 at the earliest. We can talk about the breach. We can investigate. But you cannot indict.

I suspect you're right. Much how high officials would routinely skirt the law with private email addresses to conduct the people's business, I suspect they were also completely cavalier with classified material. And apparently the National Archives don't even know what they're missing (because they'd have called Biden by now), so I wouldn't be surprised if a bunch of retired politicians have bankers boxes full of classified material still waiting in their garages for the day when they say 'I'm finally going to finish unpacking all that stuff from the move!"

I think this is exactly right. They say in the papers that mishandling classified material is a "serious offense" but we know the implied ending to that sentence "... for people like you and me." That impunity for high officials causes bad behavior, from corruption to laziness. Can't quite agree that it's all a nothing burger. I don't know what's in the documents that Trump stole, but he had many Top Secret documents, where I haven't seen any indication Biden had any marked Top Secret. It's a lot easier to accept that Biden's mishandled classified documents were probably harmless than it is that Trump's stolen and hidden Top Secret documents were.

Hopefully the media gets real and puts the pressure where it's due - Thankfully CNN is on board to some extent - Let's stop cuddling and trying to protect this president that is completely inept and has no idea what he's doing and it's clearly not in charge

Cool let's put orange and Biden in jail and have them share a cell so we can hear about biden kick his ass every day in there too.

It is curious how repugs think we have any allegiance to wrong doing and will do gymnastics to protect their own

Remember, there are actual real life GOP voters who think the election results are fraudulent because they didn't see Biden signs.

They simply can't comprehend the fact that we see polticians as servants, not entities to worship.

I'm fine with biden getting investigated for this but it's laughable to see how hot and bothered Republicans are about Biden when they literally been closing their eyes to trump doing the exact same sht but on a bigger magnitude.

I’m all for that. PPV should be at least $199. My money is on Trump, he has the girth. Biden thinks he’s fighting Cornpop and he falls down too easily ( stairs, bikes etc….).

I think MSM is happy to run this story because they're pretty comfortable it can't do much real damage to Biden anyway.
