Not saying he's a future star or anything, but short term and potentially long term we'd really look a lot more organized if we simply moved Tyty to starting pg and encouraged more ball movement. I'm OK moving KPJ to SF if he plays more catch and shoot sprinkled with playmaking here and there.

    Humph...

Tyty needs starter minutes to continue his development as an NBA caliber PG and, this year on this team, it won't happen. I actually believe they are showcasing KPJ for the sake of moving him in the off-season or maybe at the trade deadline. It isn't like Tyty is learning critical PG skills behind KPJ. In fact, I'd argue KPJ could learn from him, but contracts, etc make that a pipe dream. Long term, I think it's the right move because Tyty will be on the squad for years to come - either as a backup to the real Scoot, or as a starter himself. Either way, we're better going forward. Go get those 30+ mpg you can't get here right now. See you in the summer!

On a team who's primary issue (aside from age and NBA experience) is turnovers, sending down a natural PG with a 5:1 asst/TO ratio tells me volumes. You could argue that keeping Tyty on the squad would improve the overall roster and might even accelerate the development of Sengun (maybe) , Tari (yes), Jabari (definitely), and Green (unequivocally), but the likely fallout of demoting KPJ's minutes and the tremors that would send through the locker room (hide the food) makes this move a no-brainer, imo.

Moving KPJ is exponentially more important than moving on from Gordon. Props to Stone for structuring KPJs deal in a way that makes it palatable to other teams.

I've been a huge supporter since the moment we drafted him, but his NBA 3pt shot has not made an appearance and that's a massive problem for a PG. We're the worst 3pt shooting team in the NBA and none of our C's can shoot, which complicates our ability to have other non-shooters on the floor. Love his floater game but it has to be more efficient or less present in the NBA.

Just try to pause your impatience for a second and take an objective look at the facts on the ground. If you were an actual assistant pulling for Tyty to start, you would look like a fool to be pushing hard for it right now. He's just getting into game shape now and obviously it has been affecting his shooting (common for tired legs to affect shooting). If you're that assistant, you just watch and smile patiently right now because it's looking like he's going to end up a starting calibre PG and he has some tiny obstacles to overcome temporarily. It's not the time to be throwing a tantrum about starting him (and believe me, I'm dying to replace Gordon or KPJ with Tyty in the starting lineup).

The right thing to do with Tyty now is give him the backup PG minutes as he adjusts to the NBA. It's going well and he's going to gradually earn more minutes, it's just going to be 20-30 games later than you think it should be. That's perfectly reasonable for our rebuild plan. That 3pt shot will bounce back and he's going to improve a lot as the season goes on. This is a great story for us, potentially an excellent role player drafted late in the first round. His skills compliment Jabari, Jalen, Sengun and KPJ really well. Looks like he can be a good NBA defender too.

I feel like he's going to be one of my favorite Rockets.

Wish we had him for the Kings game!! Also wish that 3pt shot would make a damn appearance in the NBA!!!!!!!!! I don't even need stepbacks, just wide open catch and shoot 3's would do it for us.

Hell, I don't even need him to shoot 3s. I just want him to run the offense since he's an actual PG.

Penetrate and get it to his shooters. If no one is open, get the layup or use that floater. That's it.

Interestingly, Nix wasn't played even after KPJ went down. I thought we'd see a lot of him.

I was joking in the game thread that we've found our vet PG in Tate. We all know Tate isn't a PG. Not sure what they are thinking.

Hopefully that even someone who doesn’t play point is still better then trash.

I mean, they do look like they think Nix is trash. But if that's the case, they are prioritizing making Tate the backup PG over TyTy. That's pretty baffling to me. Is Tate-the-backup-PG a new experiment of 2023?

This is why TyTy needs to keep playing in the G League for the rest of the year…. So he plays big minutes as the lead point guard in a league with NBA rules and notch below NBA athleticism.

Nah they'll sag off him and destroy everyone else's spacing. His man will disrupt Sengun and Green.

Role players have to be a threat when given space or they can drag down others. That's why Ben Simmons can't do what he used to do, the league has changed, opponents will shame/target you in the regular season just as often as the playoffs. I don't want to kill the kid's confidence.

Having said that, I know he can hit 3's so we don't have to worry about this discussion. It's just going to take a tiny bit of time to adjust.

Silas possibly thinks Tyty doesn't have any talents.

I want to see TyTy and Scooter Henderson play against each other. I think they play the Ignite next week

    A 50 burger eh?

I think ultimately he's spending the rest of the season in RGV but damn.

Porter, Green, Tyty, Christopher, Nix...Tate? Gordon/Mathews I'd consider SG's too. And they'll draft Henderson or Thompson if available...and they need to hire a veteran...

    Log is officially jammed.
