The youngest center in history to make a triple-double in 28 mins at the age of 20 in a team that rotates 3 centers with a dumbass coach.

    Real head honcho.

Every time. And every time our offense just crumbles.... It is really unbelievable.

Awesome for Alpi!!! This is fantastic for his career, a clear sign to the coaches that they can trust him more. This is what I mean, if he puts up the numbers, he will force their hand.

I wish they had played Tyty instead of Garry Bird, that would have been awesome to watch. In any case we had 30 assists and 13 TO's as a team (IIRC) which I LOVE. This was in many ways a good loss for our team.

“We were horrendous protecting the paint last year. This year, I think we’re like fifth. Protecting the rim, which was even worse last year, we were really bad, and now I think we’re like 11th at opponent rim rate.”

"Silas is right about protecting the paint. The Rockets allowed a league-worst 53.2 points in the paint per game last season, and that number has dropped to 47 this season. Along with improving to first from 20th in offensive rebounding, the Rockets have gone from 25th to 12th in defensive rebounding rate."

    Hmm...

Haha so exaggerated. We were the worst defense last season and we're the 3rd worst this season and the difference between those rankings is insignificant. Whatever we're doing hasn't changed the outcome much. Sounds like the 3's we're giving up are exactly equivalent to the paint points we were denying last season.

Having said that, everyone is really proud of the Kings but their defense is roughly same as ours (they're 24th on defense). We're as close to the Kings as we are to the last placed Spurs, two teams that so many posters have said they wish we were more like. Kings are finding success through their excellent offense rather than defense (they are #3 on offense).

Doesn't take much to be a playoff team. They're 4th in the West right now despite defense almost as bad as ours.

Sengun just needs to start boss hogging the ball. Seems like the other players are approaching these games as glorified practices so he may as well use the PT to do the same. I want to see him start taking those 3's that the defense begs him to take. He can make them I've seen him - he needs to shoot it with confidence and get in his real time work. Nobody is trying to play to win anyway go get that "development".

This keeps popping back up even from posters that I like. Just shows most of the player projections around are way too lazy. They go either with nationality or physical capacity/body type that the posters think he fits in. When you point out that his skills are this and that and his stats are close to or better than this skilled player X, the response is ‘he will never become X, he is limited in this way …’. Yet Sengun is shattering all these low expectations easily and gives us a good thing to celebrate in this season. I am not talking about the triple double but the showcasing of his passing the first time he gets the opportunity. And once again this happened not by choice but by some forced situation.

The offense needs to run through him.

That's actually the only thing I actively dislike about his game, that hesitation from 3 or throwing a pump fake nobody's going to bite on. He just needs to take them, like you said, he does make some. It frustrates me a lot because getting those reps in on actually taking the shot in the game is one of the more important areas to develop for him to become a real star. I'd rather he take that shot every time and hit 1 in 10 than hesitate each time and let the defense get reset like he is doing.

We have no idea what Silas has told him his expectations are. We do know he used to take open 3 shots now he doesn't. We also know he has the shortest leash on the team and gets yanked WAY too easily even when having a good/great game when other players are given a long leash and allowed to play through mistakes. So the question would be was he told not to take open 3's because his percentage is low or is he just scared he will get yanked if he misses them?

Starting to believe that this is true. Sengun went to the bench and the game was essentially lost.

I'm in the boat that benching him is a tanking strategy.

Silas seemed to get frustrated in the post game interview when the reporter started asking about Sengun and then kind of abruptly ended the interview. The whole thing is very strange.

He probably would take those shots more if they weren't so quick to sub him out. He may think one "bad" 3pt attempt from him will get him on the bench sooner.

It only makes sense if you see it as purely a tanking strategy. Silas has been getting harassed about Sengun for going on two years now. The team looks significantly better defensively and offensively with him on the floor (he tends to produce more buckets which means the opposition has less transition opportunities).

I just have a really hard time believing Silas is that dumb. Been multiple games now where team starts out strong and then Sengun gets benched. It unravels from there. He's on the bench with 3 fouls....4 fouls in crunch time. The only way to explain it is overt tanking. If it got any worse, Silver would have to start looking into it.

That may very well be true although I am not sold on him not being that dumb. It is either tanking or he has no idea how to coach an offense with Sengun as the hub and thus when it does happen it is happening organically rather than by coaching strategy. I tend to think the latter but you could be right.
