You have to cut through what's reported and piece together the logic. Maybe Cal liked Gannon, but the more likely scenario is that Caserio liked Gannon and wanted to hire him but Cal was forcing Lovie due to his affection for Lovie and that nixed Gannon hire. Now this time they might go with Gannon, Caserio's recommendation, but the owner wants to be attached to it to rehabilitate his own image. It's absolutely illogical that it was Caserio that was in love with Lovie two years in a row and was making him being DC a requirement for any head coach two years in a row.
There’s always the possibility that McNair could let Caserio go if it meant being able to get Payton. I doubt he’ll do that though.
No to Tommy and no to Gronk. Who are the slew of TB12 free agents not named Antonio Brown? If Jimmy could stay healthy, a union with him and Payton could be ****ing sick
You should have heard the talking heads on 610 today when this was announced. They gleeped with joy. They're doing the heavy lifting for the Cal & Nick PR offensive to blow as much sunshine and butterflies up the fandom's behinds. As you pointed out this has been SOP since 2000.
Man some of y'all have had your senses distorted so badly by the recent Texans that y'all are scaring the sht out if me with your takes. Clearly y'all don't seem to remember what it was like. Texans scrapping bottom of the barrel bad now that people want to go back to being mediocre at best. Lmao...I'm outta here for my sanity.
Texans to interview Sean Payton Edit…. I should have paid more attention to this thread it’s been mentioned over 9000 times by now
Did I say he hired Kubiak or you putting words in my mouth… the Texans were still successful post Kubiak with Smirh as GM
TexansCap on Twitter has a podcast with Landry Locker. He says there are some “rumblings” that a couple of the Head Coaching candidates may not be interested in having Caserio around and could potentially want to bring in their own GM. Sean Payton is obviously one of them. But the one who surprised me was Jonathon Gannon. Supposedly he MAY want to bring in Ed Dobbs(asst. GM from Indianapolis) who is highly regarded as a talent evaluator. To clarify- he said these are things he’s hearing and that at the end of it- Caserio is more than likely to stay… just don’t be absolutely shocked if he’s not,
Believe Dodds is from Texas and has a really good eye for talent. Remember reading about him a couple years ago.
Perhaps Caserio is well aware of this possibility, hence his repeated words the other day about how he’s only here as long as he’s wanted here.
It also makes sense with the whole aspect of Cal being more involved in the coaching search. Especially after coupling that with Nick's press conference. Then you couple that with Josina Anderson's report, and maybe there is some of truth to all of this. Perhaps Nick's job won't be fully evaluated until decide who the head coach is.
The post you responded to said it. They had some success… but not a team that was ever considered to have a chance of a deep playoff run. 2011 should of (Schaub injury) and when they were 11-1 in 2012, it was the best any football team had ever started any season in Houston pro football history.
