So you're one of the 3. Just have to decide which.

It really is as simple as that; one you can look at as an oversight and one was malicious abuse. To those who try to equate the two on the same level simply have an ax to grind against Joe and then tell you why Trump isn't guilty of anything

This is why I support an investigation of Biden regarding classified documents. Biden's lawyers appear willing to cooperate so it shouldn't be too big of a deal but all of these debates regarding overclassification frankly sound self-serving. They were when people were making them to defend Trump. Whether we have overclassification or not at the moment it is still a crime to keep classified documents improperly. That shouldn't change just because the office holder does.

Opinion: If Trump’s classified document mishandling was ‘irresponsible,’ so is Biden’s

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2023/01/11/biden-classified-documents-trump-double-standard/

    excerpt:

The classified documents — which reportedly were found in a manila folder labeled “personal” — were not just kept at the Penn Biden Center’s D.C. office. That office opened on Feb. 8, 2018 — more than a year after Biden left office. So, where were they kept before then? Who had custody of them and under what conditions were they held?

    ***
Mishandling of classified documents is a serious violation of federal law. It does not matter whether it is fewer than a dozen, as in the Biden case, or hundreds, or whether their removal and retention was intentional. The Espionage Act states that anyone who “through gross negligence permits [classified information] to be removed from its proper place of custody … Shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both.”

Yeah, it's irresponsible. Now, give them back and go ahead and investigate why he was careless. We owe that to everyone in the country.

See @Os Trigonum, doesn't matter what party they support, if they ****ed something up then let's hold them accountable, even if it is small. I don't understand what's so difficult about this with you guys.

These idiots want to act like getting caught with a joint in your car ashtray is the same as getting caught with 50 kilos of weed on your yacht.

Prosecute trump and Biden. That’s just fine with me. Follow the law. It’s not that hard. If you can’t, well too bad.

politically, I’ll happily sacrifice Biden to jail Trump. I like the job he has done, but it’s more important to dump trump.

I’m starting to think there must be many classified docs out there. George W, Clinton, Gore, Pence. I mean there must be a lot of documents out there. What about Dan Quayle?

Intentionally taking classified information to your resident and refusing to give them back is not "mishandling". If somehow classified information showed up at Trump's residency without his knowledge and upon finding them, it was immediately returned, that would be "mishandling" by someone and probably no one would care except for finding out by who and how it was mishandled.

I feel like that's the irrelevant difference. They found another group of classified documents in a Biden location.

He appears to be cooperating in getting them back. That is the actual largest relevant difference.

Again, if Trump had returned them all when asked, nobody would have even known about it. If Trump hadn't used social media to publicize the execution of the warrant at Mar-a-Lago, nobody would have known.

Now because of that the media is on guard and covering the classified documents in Biden's possession.

Clinton, Trump and Biden's ClassificationGate are nothingburgers and somehow you keep dismissing your teams actions and demand the other team to be imprisoned.

Clinton's misstep was simply having an insecure server on the premises of her home. This is a big no no albeit not exactly illegal (at least at the time).

Trump and the FBI made a whole mockery of the situation. Trump should be imprisoned for pissing in the face of national security, not for having classified documents.

Biden exposes the reality. Its all one big nothingburger. One side wants the other side imprisoned for something the have no understanding and then they completely back peddle when their team gets exposed.

The reality is there are two tiers. The elites and the peasants. High ranking government officials have massive amounts of classified information run across their face and its almost always inevitable something will slip. The peasants are given very selective 'need to know' information and are expected to be highly vigilant about exposing the secrets as these individuals are the target of foreign espionage and therefore are given harsh punishments for when they slip up. Most of the time its case-by-case basis and determined by intent.

Its interesting how people get caught up in these dumb debates. I highly doubt any of these cases had any crippling classified information.
