I think Green is a #2 star on a CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM, he is not a lead dog. I think Jabari is a #3 Star on a CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM because he is a two-way starter, elite defender that can cover the opponent's best player and elite 6'11 shooter. We are missing a #1 STAR like Curry or Lebron. Is Harden a #1 STAR? Nope. Myles Turner? Nope. We need to continue to develop our players, but we need a STAT in this upcoming draft. WE need to draft in the 1st or 2nd position draft, or we have problems. Wemby is a SUPERSTAR! Scooter Henderson is a #1 STAR; he is a Curry and Kyrie Irving type of player. He could sign Kyrie this summer we have the money, but we do not know if he will play all the time for us or not.
I do believe Sengun is a future multi all star player, he has question marks toward him because Silas needs to play him more than 30 minutes a game. Sengun is a 20/10 guy if he plays 30 minutes a night, Currently, Mobley plays 34 minutes a night, 14.2 points and 8.9 rebounds a game.... Mobley is not a 20/10 guy that's not who he is.
Right? It's like when the car in front of someone doesn't move when the red light changes....and no reaction, no quick little "wake up, dumbass" honk. Just let the light go red again and sit there.
Nothing if you were retooling a team or trying to add a scorer to an established roster. We are neither and are looking to build from the bottom up. I don't really consider KPJ part of the Rocket's core..... trade asset wise or future roster wise. I don't really know what to tell if you can't grasp why the sophomore #2 pick and the rookie #3 are viewed and treated differently than a a late FRP in their 4th season who has struggled with mental health and attitude issues. You write like there's some wide chasm between KPJ and the other guys.... the GARM arguing over the tallest midget is classic GARM. We are already the worst team in the league and still abysmal offensively.... why not shake things up offensively? Because of the potential..... seriously? Doesn't mean he will pan out or even have a better career than KPJ but the top picks just get a longer runway in the NBA. I've seen enough of the ball dominant guard duo and the late FRP needs to move to the bench or get traded. We need to try something else offensively..... Won't know until we try it out.... god forbid we only have one ball dominant guard in Green in the starting unit and see how it works..... Why not shake things up offensively? Why are you KPJ-stans so afraid of benching or moving KPJ? We've seen him being the "head honcho" and the team is abysmal offensively. Addition by subtraction..... Improve our asset war chest slightly and/or improve our roster..... I would prefer the ball in Green's hands more, along with Sengun's plus maybe it just creates more ball movement only having one ball stopping guard on the floor at once...... aka addition by substraction. What has happened to make you think KPJ deserves to be the starting point guard or a starter in general? Or on this team?
All of these guys have better supporting casts, better coaching, and all stars on their teams outside of Wagner. Paolo for sure helps Wagner out. I would rather see our team actually have better coaching and have cohesion in their offense before we put Green behind them all. I have seen a lot of Raptors fans say Scottie has regressed, Mobley doesn't seem anything special outside of his defense, but I do like Wagner.
give Jalen Green a real PG that can provide structure to the offense and bring in some vets before bad habits start to become 2nd nature Jalen Green has been playing in a “just do whatever” type of offense/environment his whole life
Agreed, bring in a PG, move KPJ to the 3 and take the ball out of Green's hands forever. He not that guy. We tried to make him that guy, but he just doesn't have the skills. Let him work exclusively on learning how to play defense and hit open 3's for a few years and see if he can even pull that off. Let the new PG and KPJ run the offense with Sengun.
Mobley and Barnes aren't top 5 of 2021 draft. They're in the second best The top 5 picks of '21 draft: Wagner JGreen Sengun Giddey Cade Second 5 Barnes Mobley Herb ? ?
I'm not goign to defend the horrendous version of Green currently, but I dont' think Giddey has done much of note this year. Shooting is kind of an issue for him too. Sure, this year, Giddey shoots the ball from 3PT better than this current brick mason version of Green but - his 35% this year is on a very Battier-like volume of 3 attempts/game and his league-adjusted averages are not great. Code: Rk FG Add TS AddV 1 Shai Gilgeous-Alexander -22.9 71.9 2 Isaiah Joe 32.0 30.5 3 Kenrich Williams 29.1 15.4 4 Jeremiah Robinson-Earl 10.9 5.9 5 Aaron Wiggins 5.9 5.1 6 Mike Muscala 4.0 2.8 7 Lindy Waters III 2.0 -1.1 8 Jalen Williams 6.1 -1.3 9 Eugene Omoruyi -2.6 -6.3 10 Ousmane Dieng -3.8 -9.1 11 Jaylin Williams -10.8 -12.5 12 Darius Bazley -11.6 -21.2 13 Aleksej Pokusevski -10.7 -24.2 14 Luguentz Dort -49.7 -49.5 15 Josh Giddey -28.2 -50.1 16 Tre Mann -43.0 -61.4 Team -93.3 -105.1 League Average Provided by Basketball-Reference.com: View Original Table Generated 1/10/2023. But, on the other hand, Giddey is a much smarter player who puts himself in a position to create easier shots than Green. Part of that is from getting to be a secondary playmaker with an elite threat that commands attention like SGA.
What? Are you saying there’s a person on the planet who would take sengun over mobley? That’s ludicrous
I heard Lowe talking about Barnes regression today and I spent the last 30 minutes watching the Raptors and Hornets - Barnes, man looks pretty disinterested. In fairness he never touches the ball as the Raptors just run a lot of iso drive & kick in a pretty stagnant Rockets-like halfcourt offense, but he basically stands around guarding/being guarded by Plumlee and then guarding Plumlee and that's....it. Granted that's better than Green's recent high usage disastrousness, but Barnes looks like a future MLE guy currently rather than a former ROY. Tho
This is why I wanted Green over those other guys. With no superstar or supporting cast on the team I felt like the best option was to swing for the guy with superstar potential. Green may end up flopping or just being an ok player, but I never felt Mobley, Barnes or Suggs had the upside that Green had/has. Truthfully though, I wanted Cade....and Paolo...but they were gone so it is what it is.
They ain't worth the evaluation at the moment... Just gonna upset myself because they can be so much better with proper coaching and roles..
I stopped to communicate your type of people. I put you ignore list and suggest to go to eye test. The life is not that long to deal with certain type of individuals.
Nice to have a thread with solid content and discussion @Nook EG is easily the most egregious mistake this year and last and the year before, especially once Harden bounced. Stone has clearly shown an ineptitude at the trade deadline and with roster construction specifically. His drafts have been a plus but if he has influence on the rotations then how TF has KJ and JC and the other young players struggled to see playing time on the worst team in the league 3 years in a row? I still can’t fathom the decision to play Mathews and Nwaba, Theis, Nix, EG over developing the youngsters etc…? Silas is an easy target for any basketball fan with half a brain cell because of his questionable rotations, lack of accountability or passion of any kind. It’s easy to look like an offensive coaching genius when you have a generational talent like Luka running it. I wont beat a dead horse here… Jalen and Josh are puzzling to me which makes me wonder about some comments regarding work ethic. Josh’ summer league was atrocious and Jalen seems to have lost confidence a bit this year.. I keep telling myself 20 year olds take time so our youngsters will develop regardless of coaching (hopefully) Al-P seems to do well with the offense running through him, but more specifically, when he has cutters and high IQ players on the floor. It’s clear to see the rapport between him and KJ which is a reason I wanted KJ to start since last year. Furthermore, the Tates and Taris are always moving as well which pairs well to that type of offensive style. Our starters seem to stand around more which may be attributed to our guard play and the fact that we start EG and play high pick and iso lol … Overall, we don’t have a cornerstone player yet but more concerning, we don’t have an organizational direction other than praying for Wemby. We need to be in asset collection mode, yet I am concerned we will actually be handing out terrible contracts to mediocre free agents this year. Another area where Stone is clearly inept (see Theis/Oladipo etc..) This is a make or break off-season for us and I hope we move some pieces around and get lucky with the lottery because that’s all the hope we have with this owner, GM, and coach
