How was it a eff up when hindsight would have been required? He got two 300m deals this off-season. He got "unlucky" and who knows he can eventually make 300m as he will only be 33-34 when he becomes an FA again

Effectively a 7 year 235 million dollar deal when you include last season, possibly over 300 million with the options.

That is still a fair amount more than we offered, but likely less guaranteed money than he would have made last offseason before his ankle issue. Could end up being a great deal for Minnesota.

Sux to see $100M+ go up in smoke like that. Brutal. Hope he stays healthy; he was a great Astro.

7/235 is only 1M more in AAV than the reported 5/160 offered by the Astros last year. If he stays healthy over that offer (a big if) he is entering FA again in his year 33 season. While not $350M guaranteed It isn't a whole lot different than what he is getting.

Correct. Tweaked it this season sliding into second and maybe that’s the issue.

For the Mets to walk at 6 years 200 million, when Cohen Was excited and said Correa was the missing piece, says a lot.

100 mil up in smoke because he attempted to steal base in September when the Twins were looking like a long shot to even make the playoffs. He had stopped stealing bases to mitigate that risk. The universe is cruel.

Correa's still getting paid though. True, now that's he's stuck on the Twins instead of joining the Mets, he ain't winning anymore titles. But from a financial standpoint, it's not a debacle.

In the end Correas screw up, which looked like stroke of brilliance a few weeks ago, was not taking the best offer on the table last offseason and playing a one year deal where he got hurt.

People will compare it to what we were offering, but he had far better offers than ours that he passed on, and he got burned.

From $350M/13yrs to $200M/6yrs. Ouchie. Still, Correa is still likely to finish his career with over $300M in career earnings so I think he will be ok.

Yeah 7 years and 235 million, everyone would have said wow he struck it big had he made that deal last year.

Great job by his agent, fair deal for both sides.
