Protected 1-14 this year, 1-12 in 2024 1-10 in 2025 to 1-8 in 2026. The Bullets .... errr Wizards are 17-23 and aren't turning it around. Kuzma & Kristaps are FA after the season. They are both long gone .... Beal will demand a trade sooner than later and they'll be in the lottery the next half decade. That pick will never convey.
We see the same things but are coming to different conclusions. Throughout the John Wall era the Wiz showed a propensity to get into the playoffs instead of tanking. I think they will lean even more into win now mode with Beal on this fat contract. Beal can't demand a trade because no one wants him at a max so they would have to essentially take some sort of salary dump or minimal compensation from a contender. And, I think both KP and Kuzma will stay if they offer the most money. Which I wouldn't be surprised by. I think the pick will eventually convey and people will be talking about how savvy the GM that has it is.
I disagree. No protections are best obviously. Regarding your post the thing about this pick is you are right it will highly likely chance it is never pick 25-28 or something. If it does convey it will have a higher chance of being 8-15ish which is where those protection boundaries are set at. I bet Wash is a top 18 team in 2024 or top 20 team in 2025-2026. Odds are one of those happens and it should be a decent pick too.
Knicks have a 2025 FRP where they get better of theirs or Bucks 2025. Swap that for our late 2023 FRP. Take back Fournier…. We aren’t going to use all of our cap space this off-season and it gives another expiring to make a trade with for the off-season/next season.
