The last two season we were hoping for a big trade from our Rocket’s Brass, but we came up empty handed. There are reports Houston is looking to trade or sign free agent Myles Turner. Turner is an elite shot blockers and a 3 point shooter, either through trade or free agency he is going to be very expensive.

STONE MUST NOT SIT ON HIS HANDS AND DO NOTHING, WE NEEDS A BETTER BACKUP CENTER!

The better option for Stone is to trade for Mo Bamba. He is a shot blocker, rebounder and 3 point shooter. His current contract is two years and 10 million dollars annually. He would be a great backup Center behind Sengun and he is athletic enough to play backup Power Forward as well. Turner wants a max contract and even though we will have the money this summer, he is not worth it.

We cannot wait for free agency because it’s going to be pretty dry, we must do something now.

    Trades:

    Rockets and Orlando Magic Trade:

Rockets trade 2 2nd round picks and Tate and we would receive MoBamba

    Rockets and Phoenix Suns Trade:

Rockets trade Gordon and Martin to Phoenix for Cam Johnson and a 2nd round pick

Phoenix does not want to sign Cam Johnson to a big contract this summer, but they want to get something for him before he leaves. Phoenix would rather sign Martin to a multi contract than an expensive contract for Cam Johnson. We have the money to sign him to a nice contract this summer and we would have an established 3 point shooter with experience. Orlando do not need Mo Bamba and they are not going to receive a 1st for him, but 2 Second round picks and a Veteran(Tate)for defense purposes would help them a lot.

So, after both trades we would send Tate, Martin, Gordon and 2 seconds for Cam Johnson, Mo Bamba and a 2nd round pick. This would help our team a lot with playoff experience and size. I would do it in a heart beat and these trades works for everyone. We do not need the Bucks pick now, we can use the pick for a veteran. We need to get older and mature to compete in the NBA

Stone is the anti-Money! Morey treated players as assets and wasnt attached to then, whereas Stone feels a personal connection....I'd be shocked if he made a trade.

My understanding is that the Suns refused to include Cam Johnson in discussions for Durant. I think that tells us he ain’t available.

Mo Bamba is not a good player and I’m not sure why folks keep bringing him up.

As far as free agency, Turner is hitting his best years and is worth a 4-yr contract at big money but if we look like a terrible org we aren’t gonna be able to sign anyone remotely of he is caliber. Other than that you’re looking at uncovering diamonds on the rough like Josh Hart and grizzled vets like Rose.

cam reddish is not good and rose will be a free agent this offseason.

I think the keys thing that could move the needle is a new coach that is attractive to free agents, getting lucky in the draft, or making a balls out trade, which Stone hasn’t shown the ability to do unless forced.

wish I could be more positive.

This thread seems fairly reactionary (perhaps highly reactionary?)

The trades you propose are all poor. Either for the Rockets, or for the person we are trading with.
If any of the trades you propose get made, I would genuinely be shocked.

The thing the Rockets are trying to do is set up to win more games next year, and do this by drafting high (once again), and preserving space for free agency to bring in capable veterans.
A more likely form of trade would be to acquire future draft assets to bolster our stocks moving forward. I imagine this would only be done if we were able to bring back expiring contracts in return.
Another potential trade might be to sell off young talent for picks. I see this as very unlikely given that we can simply wait until the off season and use those players as sweeteners to obtain capable veterans

If it were that easy to finesse another team into giving up their picks for these low-minute role players posing as Rockets core pieces, a move would've been made long time ago.. Stone doesn't possess that gift of bullshitting gab that Morey had..

Nothing major will happen until this offseason. We'll have enough assets after this season to make some noise.

After this year’s trade deadline, EG will be released and Christopher should get some of his minutes.

Most likely EG will get shut down in January to preserve what little trade value he has, so his minutes should be up for grabs soon.

The Suns are not trading cam Johnson for Gordon and KJ. Let’s be realistic. I don’t think the rockets are looking to take any additional salaries beyond this season and want a clean cap space to maintain the max slot this offseason.

Any deal will be a minor trade .

Martin (don’t want to pay) Porter (his role a tank leader is coming to an end but his Poison Pill contract is very hard to move), Gordon (only if we find a way to move him w/o any assets attached) and Garuba (only if we get a big back) should all be moved.

If we did get Turner, I think he’s that perfect versatile player that gives us the flexibility to make franchise changing moves. He fits our timeline, he can play both front court positions, he’s an excellent defender and shooter. He’s worth trading for assuming we could extend him, but if we somehow got him as a free agent, that’s a job saving move for Stone.

I love Sengun and hope we develop him like Denver did Jokic. But if we somehow lock up Turner, given that Jabari probably sticks at the 4, Sengun is the kind of guy that can fetch a top 5 pick or be the centerpiece for acquiring an all star. Again, not suggesting we trade Sengun; I love what he brings, but getting Turner makes him potentially expendable.

No free agents that truly want to win, are going to a team where coaches allow KPJ to "lead".

As, I've said before...Yes, to Mo Bamba. Fills our needs and compliments Sengun upfront. He gives us rebounding, interior D, and the ability to knock it down from deep. The Magic are loaded on that front line...Bamba is expendable. They're not going to give him away, but somebody's going to get a good deal. He recently signed a contract loaded with value and flexibility @ 2/yr 20 mil...so, that's pretty sweet. I would do Tate and a couple of seconds all day, but I think the Magic will want a bit more than for their former #6 pick. Even at this point.
