Green is improving in almost all parts of his game compared to last season and we have booby saying stupid sht like if he doesn't become at least a halfway decent player. Goes to show man is just waiting for Green to falter so he bring up his stupid brewer 2.0 comparison again. Mobley pining is still strong for some folks, it's quite sad.
Sorry kiddo, but Green isn't even a halfway decent player right now. Is he ever so slightly better than he was last season? Sure....but for the bulk of last season he was arguably the worst player in the league.....now he's just one of the worst players on the Rockets. Overall he's an inefficient volume scorer who is arguably the worst defensive player in the league(according to TPA, he's the 4th worst defensive palyer in the league).....that doesn't equal "halfway decent" any way you look at it. Like I said, I pity you guys who are Jalen Green superfans, your blind loyalty deserves better than he's given you.
Everything seems difficult with the 5 out offense or 1-4. Green is getting the ball on the perimeter via pass or dribble hand off having to take people off the dribble most of the time. He is Not getting the lane so he can drive and shift defenses to pass to wings etc. KPJ or the perimeter guy is either too close or not in right position. There’s No curls or pin downs etc to set him free either so he can get easier buckets. Smith has shown he can be versatile if he gets to his spots at the elbows or paint or dribble drive creating open lanes for bigs or other cutters. But they don’t play like this. He’s in the corners or wings standing there most of the game looking at KPJ hold the ball for 8 seconds. There’s zero off ball screens. They only play on ball double drags or high screen and roll with a non jumping Sengun. Or stagnant one on one green or KPJ driving with two defenders on them.
That would mean the entire team / individuals are just slightly better than last season The Rockets are ranked like 28/29th in offense and defensive rating out of like what 30/32 teams? How could 20 yr old into his second season account for the team being that horrible if it wasn't for the other parts from top(front office) to coach to teammates? I already told you as a whole they are horrible(young and learning), but you seem to think that if you single out(anti) one of the three stooges it makes the other stooges not as dumb(horrible), such a flawed way of thinking Their team record/rating says it all, bottom of the barrel, which based on your bball knowledge is 90% because of a 20 yr old almost halfway thru completing 2nd season
It's obviously not only him... but when your to usage player is one of the worst players on the team, alongside your top picked rookie and the vet you keep starting for some reason, it's going to put ANY team in a hole. Honestly none of Green, EG, or Smith would start on a quality team.
Not sure why fans keep saying Sengun is punished” or “pulled” for making error. Issue with Sengun is his defense so Silas puts in Garuba and Bruno who are much better defenders and better in the high screen and rolls (sengun better in short roll). While Sengun is skilled and good in couple areas like off rebounds and post game he is often late to help defend and fouls often and early. KPJ on the other hand has been forced to play a starting position he just hasn’t been good or natural at playing even though he can occasionally shoot 3s and make plays but he often shoots contested or forced shots on perimeter or in the paint with no bigs down low and often doesn’t look to make plays or pass using his speed and quickness. Both are equally frustrating and conundrums since they both can play. Its not working. Hasn’t worked. Decisions need to be made whether its Victor or Scoot or Harden or other vets etc. 2023 will be pivotal year
Of course duh its not only Green or from not playing Christopher to insert whatever else This is what a rebuild phase looks like for most part and EG is just leftover vet that should have been packaged with Harden/Westbrook Which fielding a rebuild team is putting yourself in the hole as you are starting from scratch with very low expectations Honestly this isn't a quality team so what you see is what you get, a 22 yr old on avg laced team relying on their two high draft cornerstones to win games, which last time happened somewhat instantly was the Shaq/Penny combo way back in the early 90s The entire starting 5 wouldn't start for a quality team, not just who you singled out
Sengun and KPJ could certainly start for a quality team... but not as the best players on the team as they are for the Rockets. The issue with Green and Smith isn't that they aren't instantly winning, it's that they aren't even good players. When it comes to both we're in the "one day they will stop sucking, I hope" phase. Not every young player comes into the league being awful. It's not the end of the world, it's just unfortunate.
This is pretty laughable. I loved Jalen Green coming into this year. He has improved in - ONE -major area which is drawing fouls. That's it. That's all. His shooting is a nightmare. His passing, sure he's averaging 1 more assist, and 1 more TO. Marginal at best. Defense he's given up like everyone else. Team leadership/decision-making etc - not great, not head honcho. Boobythegreat is a first class dipshit, but it's not wrong to be disappointed by Green's crappy season
No they wouldnt, stop reaching, but you could '' hope'' they would We just have diff tiers of awful, like they are not Bennett/Darco, they show flashes of what they could be potentially , the only hope for would be consistency(good type), which falls on all the players from starters to bench It would be the end of the Rockets world if Green today was avg 8-10ppg and Smith was getting around 5ppg, but they are playing exactly like raw 19/20 year old play where one basically came straight out of HS and the other was 1 and done in NCAA You must have just start watching ball recently with the way you rank raw young players with potential, they are not Jordan/KD level prospects but Vince / Aldridge tier and could be higher depending on how bad they want that so called greatness TBD
I like that he has become more aggressive and getting to the line however he is forcing some really bad shots. That being said I will not call him a "chucker" just yet. I think he would benefit greatly if the offense was run through Sengun. Jalen would end up with a lot better shots if were. Maybe if were getting better shots he would make more and have the energy he needs to improve on perimeter defense.
Some things to address from this thread. No one on our team would be starting on a quality team. It’s not just Green, Smith and Gordon. Hilarious to see KPJ super fans call out Jalen green super fans when their behavior is essentially the same.
I think the difference is that I'm going off of what is objectively measurable and you seem to be going off of your feels or intuition. Objectively Sengun and KPJ are currently the Rockets best two players and both would likely be able to start on good teams but their roles would likely be different if they had competent teammates.
I do think Jalen takes some tough shots, but honestly what do you expect with the offense we run? There's no easy buckets. There's no back cutting, there's no movement. It's just ISO ball. I honestly don't think you can judge any of these guys until a true offensive system is in place.
