This exactly. Good scorers can score buckets wherever they are. Green has no go to moves where he can consistently get buckets. He has a **** ton of speed and burst, but whatever happens afterwards is like close your eyes and pray it goes in.

Jalen is trending to be a ALL-STAR soon, of all the sophomores he is having the best season so far.

I disagree... I see legit skills in him. He's actually even better than I expected playing p&r, for instance. I like his reads in the mid distance, and he's getting more and more often to the basket and the FT line with ease. Don't get me wrong, I'm perfectly aware that he's sucking so badly right now (don't even name the defensive side), but I can see his talents and his potential as an alpha scorer/offensive reference.

Edit: I've checked that he's averaging like 8-9 FTs per game in the last month. Last season he averaged 3.5... That includes the post-allstar Jalen Green who averaged 22 points with a 47.6 FGs% in that stretch. He was just making the shots and playing with huge confidence. Confidence, comfort and sensations mean the world on scorers, and he's obviously missing all of that right now.

But honestly, I'm starting to see him play bigger, and going to the FT line with little effort. Those are great news. This is normally how progress and development happens, you can see a temporal step back at something while they are taking a step forward in a different areas. Subsequently, they put it all together and we can see the big jump.

Gary Bird definitely goes to the line 10 times a game from his elite dribble penetration when his jumper is off.

Definitely not. If you want to look at finishing stats of someone who was like that their first few years look at Westbrook who had way worse at the rim numbers in his first few years.

Green definitely has finesse around the rim. Probably should watch more 20 year olds play.

Right now Jalen Green is missing middies and 3s that he usually made the second half of his rookie season and the beginning of this season. His jumper is off. His ability to break down defenses has actually improved a great deal.

You should watch opposing commentators. Yesterday the Jazz commentators when Green was iso'd out they always kept on saying "you need to provide help on his side as he's going to beat you off the dribble easily ".

Imagine Green chaining together his current ability to get to the rim and at the line with his second half rookie shooting consistency. That's a all-star already. He can get there. It might be when he's the ripe old age of 22 or 23 instead of 21. But that's okay.

What 20 year old guard scored buckets whenever they wanted to? This implies high volume and great efficiency at 20.

Luka, LeBron? Sure ya I guess he isn't on their level and we already reached a point where we know he isn't that level of player. But there is a large range of superstars below that level of player.

My biggest disappointment actually isn't on offense. He's been regressing on defense lately. He had very bad defensive plays last night. The most glaring example is him doing that electric split the double dunk and then the very next play allowing Talen Horton Tucker to blow right by him like he's MJ.

Franz Wagner at 20 years old knows exactly what shots he can take and make them. He's averageing 19 points on 59 TS. He doesn't throw up as many shots as Jalen.

what about sophomore Jordan Poole. Sophmore Shai.

You don't have to be Lebron or Luka to have go-to moves, and know when to use your go-to moves on offense. Jalen's go-to move is speed past the first defender and hope for the best.

Not really. Is this just something people tell you? What about those guys you mentioned? Is higher ts% on lower volume around better talent that spaces the floor in the Warriors case at least(having CP3 as a point guard also helps) supposed to impress me? Both those guys also came in a year older than Green.

Franz has two years of college ball experience and joined the NBA a year older than Green. He's also on a offense that gives him easier looks sprinkled in. But Franz being the better player in their primes than Green is definitely in the cards. But Green has just asich of a chance of being the better player in their respective primes.

I don't think it's trolling of he's off by one player. Franz is having the best sophomore year. Green is having the second best sophomore year. Franz is a year older with more experience outside the NBA vs Green.

Shai is ugly. No way he can compete with Green's locks. And Poole is a thug punch away from being hated by everyone in the league.

Green is doing ok, not AWESOME, not BAD, just ok.....he needs a lot of help in fundamentals and defense.....and doesn't look like a Superstar trend but he looks like a future all star trend which isn't bad.

More of a Zach Lavine and less of a Michael Jordon, or Kobe.

I doubt he's having a better season than even Alvarado.

Is it Zach Lavine or MJ now?

Lol there is a wide gradient between those two. Jalen Green is definitely far ahead of Lavine at the same age. he ain't MJ though obviously. So somewhere in between. Still superstar potential.

Again, it's so odd that Utah Jazz commentators have a higher outlook for Green than most clutch fans posters. How did it come to this? Yesterday they literally all agreed that Jalen Green has a higher upside than Ja Morant. I don't even believe that.

Ya I'm sure Alverdo was more valuable to a winning team than second year Kobe also. Young self creating guards who are projected to be first options usually don't contribute to winning as much as role player peaky guards who aren't asked to do much besides being pesky and annoying.

But it's funny you say that because his scoring efficiency is actually worse than Green with such a minimal role and not being asked to self create.

    Keep those shitty takes coming.

Jalen is having a horrible season. He's one of the least efficient sophomores if not the worst.

And you think Jalen is far ahead of Lavine at the same age but you might wanna check Lavine's sophomore year stats. Jalen is nowhere near at Lavine's efficiency in his sophomore year.

These excuses make no sense. 1 year older in the grand scheme of things doesn't matter. There are players who come out of high school and have fundamentally better understanding of how to play on offense than 10 year vets.

Franz of last year still had a better understanding of efficiently play on offense than Green does today. Some guys just gets it, some guys don't. I am not saying Green won't improve in that aspect. A lot of players improve, a lot do not. There's no trending in Bball IQ department, and offense is more bball IQ than what a lot of people give credit for.

I think Green has improved a lot in his PnR passing and foul drawing, but it's quite frustrating he still throws up really bad shot attempt while driving to the rack, when it basically has never worked his entire career.

Can you actually point out to me what his go-to layup move is that he hits consistently? Everything form of layup he throws up is pretty iffy when there's help defense.

Zach Lavine by the end of his rookie season had like a 54% ts percentage on lower percentage of his makes self created while Green is like at 53.4% ts with a lot more of his makes being self created and that's half a sophomore season.

Lavine had a big jump also his second half in terms of efficiency. So his ts% was actually lower in their respective first half of their sophomore seasons. Whole on lower volume and lower percentage of makes being self created.
