The hell is Tate gonna be teaching or showing anyone? He’s been in this same trash environment the whole time, and he barely has any experience in the NBA. He’s played just 46 more games than Jalen Green in this league. He’s never been on a winning team. All he knows is losing. Tate being some vet is just fake news Stone needs to bring in some actual vets/mentors and guys with experience who can actually play this offseason
Hmmmm. If u were to define a person vet status, it usually if u played more than × amount of years. I feel like most people would agree that 3 years of professional years is good enough. I would consider him a vet, man went from undrafted in 2018 to playin overseas to the league. He not the traditional vet, but he's seen enough sht to at least b able to b a vocal leader of he wants to. Reminds me of Ole bev or tucker, it's those that went undrafted, went to overseas and fought their way into the league that understands what it takes or how to play to survive in the league. Sure he aint a superstar but he can lead through example of hard work
nobody is looking at a 3rd year player as some vet. He literally just started playing his 3rd year. He has seen next to nothing in this league besides constant worst team in the league losing seasons since hes been here. His experience is being in a rockets locker room after constant defeats every night. All he knows is this one locker room.
His experience is being a low ceiling player who went undrafted that scratched, clawed his way into the NBA through years in other pro leagues honing basic fundamentals. That is exactly a type of trait that our young guys need to pick up. Tate is doing something right just being in the league as his talent coming out of college was a very low ceiling. Youngsters can use his expertise on perfectly ng the basics to be in the league because for someone at the talent of Tate you got to perfect the basics. If you don't think that's worthwhile experience than that's just a very basic fundamental disagreement we have that we will never see eye to eye on then.
the guys on this team don't give af about that. all the rockets hopefuls for the future were actually drafted. They're not going through what Tate did Is this team full of tates? I mean if he went to Miami he could relate since that team consistently puts undrafted guys into rotational guys.
Exactly. They aren't going through what Tate did. Hence why his experience is valuable. He crawled his way into the league not based on talent but based on getting the basics down. Something that high level talent like Green often can skip and forget because they've always been the boy wonder since middle school.
it isn't valuable because he has no idea what the rest of the guys are going through either. Tate's value is specific to himself on this team. he has no idea what pressures come with being drafted especially high, because well he didn't go through it. So what's he going to teach them? nothing because he has no idea.
KPJ had one year in college before joining the league. And then after his rookie year he had to learn an entire new position he never played.
I'm just confused on this logic. The fact that the young guys never had to experience what Tate had to just to get into the league is what makes his experience valuable to the young guys. These young kids have basically been handed these high usage starting roles out the gate.
there's nothing confusing about it. what in the world does Green have to learn from Tate about the pressures of being drafted when Tate has no fcking clue ok these young kinds have been handed high usage. So what does Tate know about that? Next to nothing. Exactly
It's relevant to my point. Tate's experience lies in what he had to do just to get minutes in the league. It wasn't through high level talent that was eye popping like high draft picks. It was getting the basics honed while doing his pro league stints outside the NBA. Basically Tate knows how to be in the league without special talent. That is what he can show the young guys. The work required to get the basics right. Right now the young kids don't have the basics right.
It's funny how being the worst team in the league for a long time just happens to redefine what things are established. Like a lot of them go through all these mental hoops to tell themselves something that just isn't reality. Now CF's is advocating someone who just started there 3rd year undrafted being on the same worst team as some NBA vet. nonsense
It's all subjective, I guess. Seniority related to the group is how some folks do it. Folks who have more experience than others is another way folks label someone a vet. I consider kpj a vet, he aint a rookie. There's no definite x amount of years to earn vet status. Sounds like I'm goal post moving, but I'm just letting u know that it's really an arbitrary term where folks use different criteria to give someone vet status. Tate draft class was 2018 but he went undrafted. Kpj was 2019. Tate ain't your traditional vet, but I would considered him a vet.
Tate is Sengun's best friend on the roster. Rockets insider: Jae'Sean Tate makes immediate impact in return from injury https://www.houstonchronicle.com/te...-Utah-Jazz-JaeSean-Tate-analysis-17698539.php
