Statmuse has this line ranked 19th in sacks allowed, but Im just nitpicking a little bit https://www.statmuse.com/nfl/ask/most-sacks-allowed-2022-by-team ... Tunsil and Howard are good bookends. Problem is on the interior. Mills does get the ball out quick to help in that regard. Green shows some promise at times, but then others he's just lost. His PFF grade of 35 should only go up (I hope!) and he needs to keep the penalties down next year. I know he's a young player, but he didnt really play like a first round guard to me, but thats ok as long as he does continue to trend upward. The free agent market for centers isnt necessarily stellar and I might be inclined just to save that money and hope Quesenberry trends higher also. I would probably kick tires on Elgton Jenkins, Mike McGlinchey and Jack Conklin in free agency if the market prices are reasonable to give the team more options if they wanted to slide Howard back inside (I prefer he remain on the outside though).

I havent really broken down the board for late 1st and beyond DL/Edge players yet. Do you have any particular players in mind when you say there are a few good players that should be available there?

If this team does go Bryce + WR with the first two picks as rumored then I would really hope they would attempt to sign guys like Javon Hargrave, Daron Payne, Dremont Jones and Marcus Davenport.

edit: My bad you're right on the sack numbers I was just counting down the list without noticing the shared values among teams.

Believe the OL gave up one of the lowest sack rates this past season. They weren’t great by any means but think the rookie Carr/OL concerns are way overblown. That being said, Pep would need to go at a minimum if we draft a QB.

Man that's a lot of drops for Boutte.

Give me Rice over Boutte at 2-32.

A Texans tie appears to also cinch the 1.1 for the Texans.

    1. Houston Texans: C.J. Stroud, QB, Ohio State

The Prospect: Stroud is a well-built, ultra-precise passer with a quick release and good-enough mobility. He suffers from the standard Ohio State quarterback prospect conundrum: it's hard to evaluate a quarterback who spent his entire collegiate career in a nearly ideal environment.

The Texans Situation: OK, fellas, you took two years off to get your heads together. Now it's time to trade the sweatpants for khakis and RTO. That starts with getting real at quarterback.

No, wait: for the Texans, returning to the real world must start with the front office and coaching staff. Frankly, we have no idea who is really calling the shots in Houston and whether their next coach will be DeMeco Ryans, Josh McCown, or Cal McNair's favorite stuffed teddy bear. That's why we selected Stroud over Bryce Young: when in doubt, assume a conservative general manager like Nick Caserio and/or an unestablished coach will pick the safer quarterback, from a traits standpoint.

Walkthrough prefers Young to Stroud, but Walkthrough has disagreed with the Texans organization about nearly everything for the last four years or so. And look where it got them!

    10. Houston Texans (from Cleveland Browns): Jared Verse, ER, Florida State

The Prospect: A transfer from University of Albany last season, Verse recorded 9.0 sacks, 16.5 tackles for loss, and a blocked field goal in his lone FBS season. He's a traits monster with an emerging set of moves.

The Texans Situation: They need everything. We're just auto-drafting the best available athlete here.

The Browns could have grabbed a much-needed WR2 or strengthened their secondary with this pick. Oh well, ol' what's-his-name can clearly elevate the Browns without help. (Narrator: what's-his-name looked nothing like a quarterback who could elevate his team in the second half of 2022.)

Wouldn’t be mad at this at all. Heard Lance Zierlein talking about him today. Could be like a JJ pick. Not as far as production (since JJ’s a HOFer) but as a guy that won’t be a sexy pick but can make a big impact.

Could have had Linderbaum and his 72.5 PFF grade, rated 9th best C in the league over Green but Texans are gonna Texan.

I think his arms were too short or some such stupidity.

That can be corrected. Scouts had concerns about Chase dropping passes and the rest is history.

Wasn't that the big knock on Andre coming out of college as well?

Yep pick players based on talent and production over size or raw physical traits.

I believe he dropped more than his share his rookie season but corrected it his sophomore year.

Call me crazy but Zay Flowers looks like the best receiver from this draft.

Love Verse and wouldn't have a problem at all with picking him at 1-12.
