I think we would feel the earthquake in Austin, and we don't have earthquakes. It would be wildly entertaining. We do, far too often, get a really bad stench from the Capital offices of the Governor, Lt. Governor, and the AG wafting down Congress Avenue. A downside to living in Austin. At least we're retired. Less proximity.
It's fun to joke about the Republican's Speaker of the House shitshow. Real world results for Republican constituents are less funny.
https://www.texastribune.org/2022/11/18/texas-earthquake-fracking-railroad-commission/ People could feel it all the way in far West Austin (very mild) but the quake was really strong for Texas.
Meanwhile, in Texas: https://comptroller.texas.gov/economy/fiscal-notes/2022/oct/hospitals.php https://www.texastribune.org/2022/11/07/texas-medicaid-expansion-republicans/ Inexcusable, shameful s**t
would kevin take this deal? democrats go to him and say they will give him the votes if he gives them the judiciary chairmanship and refuses to give any committee assignments to those who didnt vote to certify the election.
Lauren Boebert needs to be voted out. She is terrible. Would you really want an election denier as speaker?
Dems just need to sit this one out. Don’t be the adult in the room and try to work some sort of compromise. It won’t win you any points. Let the world continue to see that the GOP is full of petulant children who only care about stoking fear and outrage and sowing discord and chaos. We already know they have no plan to deal with real issues.
An actual debate on the House floor is chaos? Intransigent minorities exercising asymmetric power is exactly how the founders wanted the system to operate.
It's not really a debate, since the anti-McCarthy people can't actually articulate what they want. They don't even have anyone to vote for to get them what they want - they are literally just voting for random placeholder candidates.
I really doubted that the founders envisioned that an extreme minority would be able to hijack and radicalize an entire political party
