SOFs are always sharing things they hear on the chop shop to make their point. I listened a little bit today and they said KPJ is our player. I wonder how SOFs feel about that lol

    Kpj bias alert.

How is kpj the one who caused the turnover not the egregious one?

Kpj caused the stupid turnover while two teammates (looks like Fernando and mathews) were closer to the opposing basket.

Smith and Gordon attempted to play defense with Smith successfully blocking.
Fernando who was further ahead than kpj was at least running back to our basket.

This one bucket was all kpj fault. Man cause the turnover + didn't even try to get back to play defense. Keep sucking him off some more.

Sure. USG% as the way it is, essentially measures what % of shots you are taking for the players who are taking a lot of shots because the turnover numbers are typically much less compared to the number of shots. So if your time of possession high, the possible ways you can use it are

    1) take a lot of shots with good ts%
    2) make assists
    3) have a relatively low to%

The players you mentioned have more of 2 and 3, which will have lower usage. The luka-harden type will have 1 and 2.

For kpj, he is currently not really good at any of these hence I think the time he gets to use the ball is not justified.

I don't think there's much question that the top two players on the team right now are Sengun and KPJ....but that has more to do with other players playing poorly IMO than either of them really shining.

With this team, simply not being a net negative as a player makes you one of the top players.

Yeah that’s true. I love Jalen, but he gets away with way too much. He takes the most bad shots on this team and doesn’t pass much. For some reason he gets a pass. These be like 5–17 games too. Gotta hold him accountable as well

It really sucks, because we've seen flashes of brilliance from him, if he could maintain that or even be that a plurality of the time, then we'd be having a VERY different season.

I agree. He’s playing too much iso, which isn’t his strength. He needs more C&S and cuts to the rim. His shot selection is really poor and is leading to him struggling. He’s gotta let the game come to him

Oddly enough, he's not very good at catch and shoot, KPJ is, but Green isn't. A lot of that is Green simply missing open shots. Allegedly what he worked on this summer the most was his decision making, ball handling, and catch and shoot. It's not obvious due to his performance that he got any better at any of those things which is weird.

Green is really at his best attacking defenses that are not set so that he can use his quickness to get to the FT line or get a layup. That's really about the only thing he's currently good at.

2.7, and he scores 0.86 points per possession in ISO, the second worst on the team slightly ahead of only Nix.

Well he had a stretch where he was doing good with his C&S, but he is streaky. He’s just obsessed with taking it up against 2-3 guys all the time and idk why. Maybe trying to draw more fouls? I’d rather him find the open shooters

I agree with that 100% and that's always been his issue, his shooting is still more streaky than it is good.

When he's hot, he can't miss, when he's not, it's ugly.

I think he's just frustrated because he wants to do more than he's capable of given his limited bag at the moment. It causes him to force things that he really shouldn't. It's something you see with a lot of young guys.

I asked you how many iso possessions Green has per game dude. Chill.

I don't even remember ever having a debate before with you. I sincerely thought this is one of my first interactions with you.

It’s funny bc since last season I’ve said that Jalen is only good when he’s on fire from 3. I’m encouraged that he’s still getting to the line and making some plays, so it’s not nearly as bad. Still, it’s about if he has the hot hand from deep

When I think about it, I may be getting you mixed up with someone else. Literally thought that after that last post. I don’t have the numbers on that, but Bobby got it covered

Hmm interesting now do pnr primary ball handler possessions. I'm assuming the pg of the team would obviously have the highest ppp as the primary ball handler.

I mean that would be really bad if a non pg on this team was a more efficient pnr ball handler.

And which type of possessions are higher volume which provides a more sufficient sample size to go off of? Iso or pnr possessions?
