No one said that team was supposed to be good, just not the worst team in the league. That team also had Ego and Tucker for a while as well. Wood put up good numbers also. And "over the hill" John Wall put up about the same numbers that season as he had the previous years when he was healthy in Washington. There's no reason to be the NBA's worst franchise going on quite possibly three years in a row.
I think all the SOFs who joined after we drafted Sengun have been banned other than the man himself AlperenSengun. I'm kind of surprised Ankara got banned, I thought he was fine.
I found a article that sound interesting, there are rumors that Tate will be on the trade block on January 15th? Maybe, just maybe the Rocket's Brass has a master plan to trade Tate and Gordon for a good player? Combine both contracts is around 27 millions dollars? 3 NBA players most likely to be traded after becoming eligible on January 15 (msn.com)
Why is this so hard for people like you? Nobody is stressing about losses. People are upset about the lack of development, poor coaching, questionable rotations, and a culture full of no accountability or structure. And that’s not even including the front office, who has completely screwed up this Gordon situation among other bad decisions. Rebuilds are hard. But we shouldn’t be a complete embarrassment in the process. We shouldn’t look like a HS team against a basic zone. We have fans going to games posting how dysfunctional the chemistry looks between the players on the bench. We literally get clowned by the national media, opposing players, and even by our own player’s parents (KJ, Sengun, Tari). 7 first round picks, and zero franchise players to show for it. We don’t look close to competing for the playoffs, and this is our last draft of owning our own pick. We have just a 28% chance at Wemby/Scoot. So yeah. I think fans have the right to be stressed.
I agree with most of this with a few caveats - I do think of there is potentially a path still to redeem KPJ as a Lou Williams/Vinnie Johnson/even Ginobili style super sub. He would be super valuable - like SUPER valuable if he could buy into that role. The Goon Squad is interesting defensively but can’t score…but if KPJ is getting buckets on the 2nd unit and the occasional “hot hand” to ride, then he can be a valuable piece to a title team. Someone has to get him to see AND buy into the vision too though. I agree that Sengun undoubtedly is a better hub of our offense today but I think today’s lessons are more about building future capabilities rather than incrementally improving the team. As much as I like Sengun, I still think he may be played off a court because of his defensive limitations in a playoff series so I’m hesitant to start building a team identity and roles that lead towards what is likely an unsustainable model for this team long term. I think the lessons of the last 20years of title contenders proves you gotta believe Sengun is an “all timer” as a center/PF to consider running a young team’s offense through him. He has the ceiling offensively…but defense is questionable and if we are just trying to get better this year and aren’t trying to be a future title contender I think that would be wasting an opportunity to think long term while the rebuild is still relatively young.
I thought Ankara was cool too. I enjoyed engaging with him on Sengun. Lin fans were pretty bad (though I was on TDS and not Clutchfans at that time) but I can’t remember it getting so inflammatory, where the first thing out of their mouths (hands?) were insults and general unpleasantness. So many of the Sengun fans came in with this weird insecurity and defensiveness like they had to uphold Alpie’s honor or some ****. I honestly think he’d be embarrassed. I also think half of them were like a single person because they almost all write the same way.
OKC is doing all the improvements Silas wishes and could still end up with a Top 5 pick theoretically.
Damn, it would be just our luck if the Thunder end up with the top pick after playing so well and we bumble our way to the 5th
We're definitely the worst team in the West and likely the worst again next year if we don't get a top 2 pick. OKC just dropped 150 on the Celtics in regular playtime without Shai, their bench scoring is solid. They'll get Chet back next year too.
They have a coach who actually coached Luka not the guy trying to take credit for Luka while being an assistant.
Their team definitely isn’t as young as the rockets. Over half the rockets could still be in college. Not applicable to the pacers Every team that’s right there in average age of the rockets are right there at bottom tier with them, which shouldn’t be surprising at all
True, but on the flip side when Silas first became head coach he was on certain sports shows talking about how he is going to utilize a backcourt of Harden / Westbrook then weeks later he is dealing with the prized free agent C Wood as his franchise player and a organization choice to fully rebuild, maybe he should have 10-20 more wins but his overall record would suck, no matter what coach would be in his place a prime L Brown would maximize this young team to probably 30-35 wins each year
Sure, there is, if you are maximizing draft position .... being worst is best. And when you understand that they had a 3 year window to accumulate as much talent as possible before the Westbrook OKC obligations came to fruition, you know they have to maximize that window or run the risk of sucking during the time they send OKC those picks, right?
Blah blah blah... U are trying to defend coach Silas, who has the worst w/l record in NBA history. Even we tank 3 more years, nothing will change under Silas's coaching. Because he is garbage.
