The reason the team isn't winning is JG and Jabari not making their shots. There's really not much you can do when they just keep bricking wide open shots created for them by others.

Look at the splits for Green and Smith in wins vs in losses. When the team loses, it's because those two sucked, when the team wins, it's because they played well.

No other player on the team has such a radical disparity between performance in wins vs losses. The knee jerk desire to blame KPJ simply doesn't hold weight, he can be the best player on the court and the team still loses if Green and Smith suck at shooting....and they've been terribly inefficient most of the season.

That's to be expected with young players, but you don't blame them bricking open shots on others....no one can make the shots for them too.

It feels like he is the PG but other than that it is a mess of a team.

It is a team of go getters with no real leader and everyone has a good game once in a while.

I think it is hard to set a hierarchical structure when absolutely nobody has stepped up to the plate yet.

Thats not fair. The thing here is KPJ barely passes the ball to Green, even when he's wide open. Green doesn't get easy shots and that is in the account of your PG

He gets over 6 open or wide open 3 point attempts per game and is only hitting 31% of them. Like I said, blaming KPJ for Green missing wide open shots is absurd. Green is just performing poorly and it's no one else's fault.

It's crazy that a guy who is allegedly a "budding superstar" apparently has absolutely no agency whatsoever and needs everyone else to do everything for him. That's the kind of thing you would say about an absolute scrub.

It's okay to simply acknowledge that he's not playing well and it's his fault.

Here's a graphic showing overall performance and play time. It is easy to see the 3 guys who are dragging down the team, they are all down there in the bottom right corner by themselves. They are logging some of the most minutes on the team and their performances are some of the worst on the team.

Also, Sengun fans might note that damn near the only guy in the positive is lagging behind all of those down at the bottom when it comes to playing time.

I understand the reason why you'd allow young guys like Green and Smith to continue sucking while not taking away any playing time, the goal with them is development, not getting wins.....but why the hell is Gordon still on the team other than that he helps the tank.

KPJ is garbage. Every team he's played for knows it. You couldn't give him away if you wanted to

Again he's not wide open, he has to create his shot again and again. The only guy who founds him sometimes is Sengun. KPJ don't pass the ball to Green, It doesn't matter if he's wide open or not. Even when he's under the basket with no defender around KPJs doesn't want to give him the ball

So, you're saying I should ignore the NBA tracking stats and just take your word for it?

    Sorry guy, can't do it.

Also, I don't know if you realize it. but he kind of sucks off ball....hence the constant bricking of open shots. He's at his best attacking defenses before they get set. The reason he's been given the green light to attempt to create for himself and others this season is because they are hoping he can develop that part of his game. Sure he's kind of terrible at it right now, but that's not anyone else's fault.

You guys just constantly blame everyone else around him rather than realizing the obvious, Green is a young player who isn't very good right now.....which was to be expected. He came into the league as a super young, super raw player.....and he's still super young and super raw.

You said he wanted the team to fail. Im saying he hates KPJ fine, most people have fair criticisms on him but I dont blame anyone for hating at this point given that you arent allowed to make fair criticisms on here most times without someone calling you a hater so after awhile some will just become haters.

But is not just Green, is every player on this rooster that actually sucks, even your beloved KPJ doesn't have acceptable shooting porcentages. As a PG he is not helping the others to be more efficients players, and neither him is being it. Consecuence is 10-27 and "there's no improvement"

Yeah I dunno, agree to disagree on that one. I've been called a Sengun hater multiple times by SOF's despite being a fan. Didn't really make me feel the need to spam threads with one liners of Sengun hate. I'm all for discussing the flaws our players have, and they all have many. I just feel like if all you do is post one liners "x player is the worst player ever" "x just sucks" "x makes the team suck" with nothing else being offered, you're on par with the actual trolls. It's cool though, I'm not going to badger them about it, just commented at the time because I'd read like 10 different occasions of the poster just doing that.

No, that's not really true, it's just that the guys the team relies on most to be good, Green and Smith, have been 2 of the worst on the team.....but again, that's to be expected with such young players.

KPJ is one of the better offensive players on the team, he'd be even better if Green was able to take some of the ball handling responsibilities in order to set him up a bit more off ball....but though they've tried it quite a bit, Green kind of sucks at it right now.

Also, the person who said "there's no improvement" is one of the worst players on the team....simply cutting him would be some of the "improvement" we're looki8ng for.

You going back to blaming KPJ for other players bricking open shots is a non-starter.

Here, I'll give you a graphic so you can see just how each player on the Rockets have performed thus far this season, see what you can take from it.

    Screenshot 2023-01-03 135948.png

It shows that KPJ and Sengun are the two best offensive players, it shows Jabari's offensive performance is embarrassingly bad

It shows that Eric Gordon is bad at everything.

It shows that Jalen Green's defense is embarrassingly bad and his offense is not very good.

That's 3 starters who are flat out terrible overall. If you want to know why the Rockets struggle, there you go.

Also, if you look at Jalen Green and Jabari Smith's splits, when they happen to have good games, the Rockets basically always win and when their performance is terrible....like most games this season, the Rockets lose.

Sorry, there's simply no one else to blame. It doesn't mean Green and Jabari won't improve, but it does mean they are terrible right now more often than not.

Agree on your Gordon point, but the Green and Jabari's bad performances can't be explained just under their responsibility. We have a coach that only knows to play to he's PG to be succesfull, even if that means that the team is not. All in Silas sistem rotate over that position. On his teams, is easy to score if you are a PG, but too difficult if you are not. Even Nix was one of the top scorers that game KPJ did not play

I think this is a fair assesment in terms of offense. KPJ has been playing much better lately, shooting better, reducing dribbling so it does not feel like he is the player that is holding the team down on offense. If Green played better, we would win more. Green and Silas are definitely more responsible for his bad performance than KPJ. On defense, I think KPJ is a big part of why we are bad together with Green and Gordon (and Silas for playing the three together).

For the bigger picture, KPJ is performing much better on offense. But that doesn't mean that this is the best offense we can create with this roster or a roster that includes KPJ-Green-Sengun-Bari. We'd still be much better off getting a pg and moving kpj to an off-ball role with more concentration on scoring.

Look I said this in the other thread, it is not fair to label anyone with this lack of system Silas runs, all we can safely say is that KPJ is a much better ISO player than Jalen....that's it.....not who will be better, who is the better shooter, guard, nothing....

Until we get a proper system in place with a proper coach, we are all just going to enjoy the **** show that is the Rockets and hope for incremental improvement like KPJ has shown, but with a system EVERYONE could be showing improvement.

Silas is the problem he is holding back the entire team.

We arent talking about Sengun, KPJ is a much more polarizing character. He is being given the keysto the kindom despite being less talented and more of a headcase than the others. That would and hsould make peopel angry. You add to that the fact you arent allowed to criticize him at all then that is surely to create haters. Listen I dont do that either but himsaying that about KPj doesnt mean he wants the ROckets to fail. Given the way soem post about KPJ and the cherry picked stats and insanity for him then you would think the insanity against is gonna level it out a bit. I dont hate the guy I just hate the situation.

I agree but he is also not it on defense and thats a big part of why the Rockets are losing. People will just cherry picked hsi recent offensive stats and act like his bad performances never existed.

I think in the long term, Green will develop the skills needed to help out more as a combo guard. That alone would be pretty huge for the team, add to that, I think the Rockets as a whole will get better about playing alongside Sengun.

The chemistry between Sengun and KPJ continues to get better every game and that would help spread out the burden of creation on offense as well.

As to defense, when you have one of the worst defensive players in the game out there, it's going to put a lot more stress on everyone else even if they were really good.....and they aren't really good, so you get a disaster. I think if you ditch Gordon and Green puts in a TON of work on defense to get to being merely bad at it, you'd see a pretty massive improvement on defense as a whole.

Tari and KJ should log basically all of the minutes at the 3.
