All 3 of them were on much better teams with proven NBA vets and I wonder if that has any impact on these numbers. That said, I'm a Jalen fan, I think he checks all the boxes of a future all star.
**** that's even more pathetic. You would think with better teammates, more spacing, more competent coaching, more shots generated by having teammate dime you, lower volume.... And they still significantly less efficient. **** Green gonna be a superstar.
That is also telling y'all scoring alone won't win you nothing. You need the whole team to chime in and contribute.
Honestly the biggest failure of the rebuild is playing too many 19-22 year olds are the same time. I'm quite certain that this many young players playing heavy rotation minutes is near unprecedented. In fact Mike Breen, Knicks color guy, said this also about him never seeing a team that plays so many young players in heavy rotational minutes at the same time. This team needs to springle more vets in. Is Rubio healthy? Can he play? Because he's exact the type of player we need.
Scoring was his forte dating back to Highschool and the G-league Ignite. His efficiency at times took it to the next level. If he turns into an Allround player and a leader soon, that would be helping the whole team big time even with a lousy coach named Stephen Silas. This team needs a leader now in the worst way. That was what I imagined getting from the 2nd pick eventually.
It is nice to talk about winning and improvements. It is high time to develop leadership and good habits.
We lost and didnt improve with Tate and we lost and didnt improve without Tate. Not having Tate is of no consequence to the current structure of this team. He's just another mid player overrated by the fanbase. In fact it may present more problems with Silas's given rotational issues in mind.
Sure but Im hoping that has been the point. Unfortunately their development is stunted by too many of them and Silas but they still develop. The comments from EG are more about the team in totality. You can see significant individual improvements from Green, Porter, Eason, Smith, Garuba and etc. however, the lack of structure and accountability is blunting the team growth, which in turn cycles back and hold them back a little bit of the individual level, long-term. if we add the right coach this off-season, I don’t think that any of this damage from the holding back will be permanent or that significant but we cannot let Silas go past the rest of the season.
A team this young needs a steady hand in pg play. Not someone learning on the job who still is developing himself. I'm actually willing to trade KMJ and some firsts for Brunson. Knicks are teetering between wanting to stick with this roster or go full rebuild. Knicks fans want a full rebuild as they think the ceiling of their current team is first and second round exists. In fact Knicks fans on their forums last night even though Green had a bad game were like "this is why we tank. Ain't no way we gonna get a talent at Green's level through trade or free agency". So if the Knicks start losing more games this season, I'd seriously consider trying to get Brunson. Brunson is exactly the type of player this team needs.
Everyone is following the Grizzlies model, they are cooking now and able to drink. Too bad the Rockets are built more like beanstalks than NFL line backers.
Agreed. Id happily trade KMJ+Christopher+top 5 protected pick of their choice for Brunson. BUT they aren’t going to trade a guy that just opted to sign there unless he asks out and I don’t know if he would want to come here.
Ya I agree that Brunson might not like the trade. Does Brunson have any clauses though? I mean I would prefer that if we trade for someone like Brunson, they won't be disgruntled about it but even then I'm sure they'll forget about it as soon as they start training and playing.
I think it is more likely that we get a new coach, install some structure and discipline, and then the yield of the improvement by the youngsters ends up, catching the Iowa veteran that wants to come here. Brunson could give an Eric Gordon interview day 10 after watching some of this bullshit. He wouldn’t be happy.
not really. He’s in his 4th year in the league. That is the year a player will show you who they are. im not falling for this manufactured role for KPJ. Not even the Thunder have bent over backwards like this for SGA
Brunson is also a floor general unlike Gordon who's play style is more conducive to developing young players so who knows if there would be as much to complain about if that hypothetical happened
john wall checked all the boxes of the star player as well.... what good did it bring to washington bullets? it did them more harm then good...
ego went full sengunatics mode! he better be careful or @Os Trigonum will turn against him @sinan28 @Ankara1923
