I don’t agree with the no improvement. I have seen improvements. We’re in games this year that we were nowhere close last year. We took some playoff teams down to the wire. But let’s make no mistake, this year is about giving yourself the best chance you can at a generational player. I understand people are frustrated by this approach but it is what is. I would feel the way he does if I was in his shoes so maybe there’s a way to find another veteran who gets no PT that we could get on this team to take his role. We’re not going to jeopardize this. Next year is the year you start trying to see what you got, once the draft results are done.
I think it's time for some criticism of Jalen Green. To me, he hasn't improved enough this year so far. Yes, he's young, yes, it's only his second year, yes he's had some electric moments, but his inefficiency/inconsistency/effort is discouraging. Many of his shots are dribble, dribble, stepback 3s. I don't feel like he plays hard for his teammates. I think EG's right when he's talking about iso and stuff. I also don't think it's so much on the coaches for this lack of significant improvement - I do think coaches have some part in it but it's mostly the players themselves who are responsible for their games. I know you're gonna kill me for this opinion. Go ahead
I'm not going to kill you. Just provide context and make an assumption you aren't used to seeing players this young play for your team.
Jalen Green also has one of the highest points per time of possession in the NBA. That means he scores some of the most points with the least amount of time with the ball in is his hands. That tells me he actually doesn't dribble a lot to score points. His backcourt partner is the literal opposite though.
I totally agree with this take, Green will be fine. That being said, this also applies to Sengun, whom many SOHs keep on ragging on like he is a finished product.
I mean I disagree with Silas on the leash he has on Sengun also. He definitely should be playing 30 minutes a night minimum unless he's fouling out.
Wow. Better than Devin Booker at literally everything except 3pt shooting by a hair. Comfortably better than all 3 in his first 100 games. Better than Kobe too btw.
You don't think the Nets & Celtics are perimeter driven? In any case, I think that's how the Rockets brass sees it. To me certainly the rule changes have increased the prominence and importance of guards compared to the 90's. Yes there are some special players out there right now like Giannas, Zion, & Jokic - but outside those 3 I'm pretty certain the highest usage players across the league are dominated by perimeter players.
So it seems what some of us are saying are the same thing the only winning player on this roster thinks. Where are all the middle school mathematicians
But Gordon has a succesful track record of being important player on best team in the league if fit into proper role. none of the other guys have that including coaching staff
And? Has Gordon used that expertise to help the kids? His assist rate is atrocious. His scoring efficiency is atrocious. His defense is atrocious. Now the later two things he does well when he cares and is on a contender. But he isn't doing it here. Eric Gordon seems to be the type that keeps to himself. He is a professional. But he isn't the mentor type. And on the actual court he is the worst type of mentor vet you can have because he's a black hole on offense. He isn't creating any easy looks for the kids.
Gordon is a lost cause. Dudes aged and way out of shape. I can’t see him making a difference anywhere he goes. We get a second round pick for him.
You and I have no clue whats happening behind the scenes. EG is a scorer that needs room and he was that whole career, if you dont need that you trade him 2 years ago. Its like drafting post up center and then benching him for gleaguer who can dunk because you like dunks. Or drafting top3 midrange shooter and not generate midrange for him. This is so ****ing dumb that i have no respect to whatever idea the person who makes this decisions have
But his assesment of the needs in winning basketball are the only credible ones top to bottom of this whole ****ing franchise from owner through rookies to ****ing loser coaches
Eric Gordon's assessment is basically "find me a fully developed prime MVP candidate next to me" because that's pretty much the only time in his career he actually won games.
Agree with Eric that there has been a lack of "Team" improvement . At the start of last season with Theis and Tate we were actually playing good D , just couldn't score a lick . Our game plan every fame this year is the same as after we benched theis ... give kpj and green the ball and everyone else get out of the way . I like KPJ .but he's been a tad worse this year . We NEED Tate back , but I'm pretty sure we are purposely sitting him to ensure losing . We really need to turn this around otherwise we are going to ingrain bad habits and players that care about winning are going to leave / never come here
