In true Texans fashion, the better Bryce Young looked today, the more likely the Texans are to screw around and not get the 1st pick.
Funny, because I stepped out to do some work outside and he threw for 4 more tds. Now I have to watch the highlights. Even if he was playing poorly, I was still on board. I was just being a realist.
The problem I have with this narrative is that there haven't been a ton of under 6' QBs on good teams recently. Couple this with the fact that the NFL protects their QBs more than ever, and that's not going to stop ever, and I am not as concerned. I think the tape speaks for itself. Kid has been this size or smaller for his entire football career. He knows how to deal with it.
Nick won't take him. Nick would rather take Stroud and coach him up. Nick can't coach Young into being any taller.
High IG, can make all the throws, a winner, good athlete, and a classy individual. I thought it would take over a decade to replace Watson. Texans will be lucky and able to do it within a couple of years. Let’s Go!!!
I've said it many times. If he was 6'2" 205, he would be the best QB prospect since Andrew Luck. He's not. But he's been playing at this size his whole life. The tape is great. The interviews will be even better. The workouts may not be. I don't care, and I don't think teams should, either. The NFL protects its QBs. It will for the rest of time. Young is a smart player that knows when to slide, and isn't a scrambler. He should be okay with a decent line. There are some good offensive lineman free agents, and we have money. We can easily have a top 10 offensive line next year, in my opinion. Top that off by signing a Daron Payne-type defensive lineman, and getting a decent coach, and I think this team can be good soon. I think taking Bryce Young is a no brainer. The problem is, will we secure the number one pick, or will we lose out and end up trading both of our first round picks to jump from 2 to 1 to secure Bryce Young? That would be a classic move for this team.
Omg, [insert player I just watched score a TD on tv] should go #1 overall! Bryce Young didn't grow an inch or achieve any greater arm strength in the last 24 hours. The NFL is a different game. Just ask Vince Young.
